Very well done tribute to Pokemon and other Monster-Catching games
Played and enjoyed the first Nexomon and bought this one as well. It's pretty clear that the people who created this game grew up on the good Pokemon games of yesteryear such as Gold/Silver and Black/White.The characters are charming and, like the first one, the story is actually well done. The game has a decent challenge and while the levels of wild Nexomon and trainers do scale with you (you can even re-battle trainers you have defeated) the game never feels frustrating. The capture mechanics are quite engaging and I even appreciate the nexotrap crafting.Being able to pick the starter you like and catch the others in the wild is wonderful. And I like that, instead of worrying about hidden IVs and EVs, you can equip your Nexomon with cores to boost the stats you like. The world is also significantly more open and explorable than current Pokemon games and there are over 300 monsters to tame with some awesome designs in the mix. Kudos also go to the adorable animation work on the Nexomon.I could write more but the long and short is that, while this game is heavily inspired by Pokemon, it also does its own thing while poking gentle fun at itself for being a clone. Buy it if you like creature collecting games in general, grew up on Pokemon games (like myself) and wish the newer games would do more of what made them fun in the past, or just enjoy charming games with 4th wall-breaking humor and a decent plot.I am a mixture of all three and am having a blast. =)

More Than a Tribute, An Evolution
This game is almost a "what-if" scenario, to me. Previous monster hunter series, Pokemon and otherwise, have developed in a very different way over the past few years, embracing 3D graphics, modern hardware, the internet age, and pushing players into less solo experiences. This game completely embraces the solo experiences and 2D graphics with some of the most beautiful, polished 2D graphics I have seen in a very long time, writing with a self-referential and sarcastic sense of humor, and a colorful cast. This is a game that never forgets that it is supposed to be fun, and which will entertain you for countless hours without purposefully wasting your time to draw out game length. I highly recommend it for all ages, both those who have played monster training games like Pokemon before, and those who have not.

Great game and fun alternative to Pokemon
The game itself is fun, great for being from a small studio. If you like Pokemon but tired of the same repetitive story and activities from that series, then this is a great game. The monster designs are nice, the 2D sprite animations are good, and gameplay is fun.Only reason it's a 4 star is because there were some bugs I ran into (not monsters but actual code based bugs lol). One caused the game to crash in the middle of a battle. I let it slide considering it's from a small studio that is still developing their skills.Overall, a great experience and great alternative for Pokemon fans who are bored with Gamefreak's lack of effort in games. Nintendo and Gamefreak better watch out, there is a new monster catching and training game on it's heels.

This game is amazing.
Absolutely fantastic game. I saw it for sale online for $20 and thought "What the hell?" I've been into the monster collecting genre for a long time and have been trying to find something that scratches that itch like old Pokemon games did for me back in the day. This game absolutely delivers. The monster designs, the difficulty, the story, the writing, all of it are what kept me enthralled as I played. If you enjoy games like Pokemon you owe it to yourself to give this game a try, you won't regret it.

A self aware PokeClone that's well worth your time...
I haven't played Pokemon since the original generation on the Gameboy/Gameboy Color about 20 years ago so being that that's all I know, getting into Nexomon was easy. It reminds me so much of Nintendo and Game Freaks baby but with a nice spin on the formula. This game has hilarious dialogue and breaks the fourth wall like crazy and to top it off, it's definitely aware of it's somewhat rip off nature and wears it well. I highly recommend

Really Good game that I have been playing all holiday weekend
This is basically a pokemon clone but with more humor and an anime style art design. But what really sets it apart is the side quests and little easter eggs that joke about RPG games and pokemon. The Nexomons resemble pokemon but with a little more attitude in my opinon. Give it a try for 20 bucks.

Very Grindy.
If you like mind numbing grinders, this is the game for you. Pretty much from the beginning you learn that you have to grind hard to make any progress, but you don't know to what level. It's not awful for a Pokemon wannabe, but I hate grinding. It makes it a lot less enjoyable.

If you're on the fence, give this series a shot!
If you're on the fence about giving Nexomon a shot--take the plunge, its a great game and at half the price of most big time Switch titles.Although the art style reminds me of the dozens of Facebook/mobile app Pokemon rip-offs, Nexomon really truly delivers. It's a great game. The artstyle, though doesn't feel totally unique, is beautiful. The Nexomon all have lovely designs. The story is engaging. And, the dialog can deliver some wonderful tongue-in-cheek humor. I've only had the game for two days now but it's all I've been playing, and I SINCERELY hope this isn't the end of the Nexomon series--I want to see what this IP can really do.

Story oriented Pokémon-like rpg
Great game, especially for the price. It’s like a more story oriented Pokémon-like monster Hunter RPG. It’s an Indy title that isn’t without its quirks, but it has a decent story, long campaign, and post game content. You definitely get your money’s worth. It’s also packed with over 300 Nexomon to catch and battle. To summarize, good fun, great value.
