I made a black rice oil for my hair and after applying I went in with the ors rice water deep mask conditioner. It was too strong for my hair. Next time I will do one or the other. My hair was really hard. I have high porosity hair

The recipe on the bag suggests cooking this rice as if it were pasta. That effectively removes much of the coloring and flavor. The recipe which works for me is the following: using the rice-cooker bucket, I soak rice for 24 h in the fridge, using just as much water as recommended by the cooker instructions. Then, I use the cooker in the regular way. The resulting rice is very flavorful and highly chewable, al dente-style. Difficult to differentiate from a regular black rice from China, though. Maybe, if I had extra 2-3 h to prepare risotto, I would've been able to tell the difference, but no such luck.

This is quite pricey, but it is absolutely delicious! I had read that black rice is very high in beneficial antioxidants, is whole-grain, and thus the most nutritious of all rices. This is estate-grown, and after researching it on multiple gourmet sites, I found it is the ONLY black rice that many people will eat! You will not be disappointed if you try this. One word of caution: when the rice is cooked it turns the water a dark eggplant color. I like it, but the first time I threw it in with some chicken breasts I was boiling for chicken soup, it turned the outside of the chicken a dark purple, which actually shocked my husband the first time he saw it. But it DOES make delicious Chicken and rice soup, as well as a very tasty side dish on its own!

Met expectations. Love the nutty taste of the black rice. Goes well with fish - seafood.
