Feeding Women of the Bible, Feeding Ourselves: A Jewish Food Hero Cookbook (Jewish Food Hero Collection)

So much more than just a cookbook!
(Full disclosure, I am one of the women featured in this cookbook though have not received any funds or products to endorse it). I just received this book in the mail am so proud to be part of this nonprofit project. It is such a unique idea and a beautiful collection from women around the world of personal stories, creative recipes and educational descriptions of Biblical Hebrew characters. I have been following Kenden Alfond for several years now and bought her first book in addition to having ordered several of her products on the Jewish Food Hero blog to decorate my home (blessings, calendar, etc.), plus I bought her holiday products to decorate my dinner table for seders, Rosh Hashanah and Shabbat.Kenden has such an elegant, refined style that is so classy. I will be giving this book as a gift and look forward to making the recipes which look absolutely delicious. As an added bonus, the book is such a amazing cause and 100% of the proceeds go towards Jewish nonprofits focused on food, hunger and environmental relief. I have been vegan for over 10 years now and Jewish Food Hero has provided books and products like this that have helped to supplement and strengthen my plant-based and Jewish community and lifestyle.

A Must Have in Your Cookbook Collection
One day during the summer, a friend of mine called me to tell of a wonderful cookbook she purchased and thought I would also like this. Since August, I have been reading the book and cooking the recipes. Although I am not a vegetarian, my family is enjoying everything I have made. In addition, we use the Midrashim and questions as a catalyst for table conversations. I feel it is an important book because it looks at a myriad of lesser known women who have had an impact on Jewish history, promotes intellectual conversations and pairs it with recipes one can easily cook.

Great stories/all vegetarian recipes
Book is a great read (for which I gave 4 stars). The recipes are all vegetarian, and somewhat complicated.Hard to believe that the women of the bible didn't eat any meat.

Love this Cookbook!
I have enjoyed reading this book much like a regular book! The history written in the book has been exciting to read regarding the food and the women who shared. I'm learning more about the Jewish culture and history or their food and then the bonus of the recipes. Definitely a great book to have!I've made several of the recipes and hubby and I have enjoyed all of them so far. I plan on cooking my way through the book this year!

Beautifully crafted
I never realized I needed this book until now. I always have tried to feel closer to women in the Hebrew Bible and I never thought that food would be one way of doing so. I love how well this book is done!I love how the book touches upon multiple layers of Judaism through the stories, verses, themes, midrash, prompts, and of course the recipes! The prompts are a great way to bring the biblical stories into the present day and see how they can relate to our own personal lives.I am so glad to have a cookbook that allows me to feel more connected to Hebrew Biblical women. I see so often that the stories of these women are glanced over, but in this cookbook they are brought to light and honored in such a beautiful and thoughtful way.All of the recipes look delicious and I cannot wait to try every single one!
