Does exactly as it says though inserting it is difficult as the bottom is flimsy and sticky.
So these are AMAZING. my neighbor gave me one to try and I was convinced. Within a few hours there were 20 little gnats stuck to it.I ordered a pack for myself and they arrived with a day. These are different from the one I tried. I’m sure they work just as well but these have adhesive on the bottom part which you put in the soil. It seems silly to make the bottom sticky as it makes it difficult to put in the soil. The plastic is also a little flimsy and floppy. The other I tried was harder and was easier to insert.I feel like they’ve tried to make them more multipurpose as there are ties included which I think are meant to hang. Which is great but should be separate.Amazing product but the sticky bottom that goes into the soil and flimsy plastic make it hard to insert and stay up.

They work well!
Every year, I seem to get gnats in the house at some point. Sometimes it is the fruits and vegetables in the summer. This year, a purchased poinsettia plant brought them. Since I have over 50 house plants, it quickly can become an infestation. I would see one of these fruit flies buzz by me periodically. Usually, I use the little apples with the liquid inside. Unfortunately, the liquid evaporates very quickly without getting the job done. When I placed a sticky butterflies in a plant in each grouping of plants, I was shocked at how many dozens of gnats I actually had. Within a few days, some of the butterflies were covered with black spots. A few of them looked so bad that I changed them out with new ones.Since the lifecycle of a fruit fly is four months and they spent their life laying hundreds of eggs, I guess I am going to have to deal with them for at least six months. With the sticky guards on duty, at least I have a shot of getting rid of them. Trying to fill up the little apples every couple days as they evaporate is costly and useless in this case.As long as I can find the sticky traps, I will keep them positioned even when I I am rid of the gnats. They are not very noticable if you position them in the back of the pots. I am so grateful I found them!

THESE WORK FANTASTICALLY WELL! Great pricing! Easy, non-toxic, good quality! Worth every penny!
These are fantastic! I bought these for the first time last week and put them in my outdoor plant's pots because I bring them indoors when it gets too cold and they always have these little annoying dirt flies in their soil. I didn't want these flies to infest my spring seedling trays, so I picked some of these up to help kill off this fly problem. My attached pictures speak for themselves. These WORK! And my dirt fly problem has mostly disappeared!Best of all, they have no odor, are totally non-toxic, and leave no residue on your fingers when you peel the paper off them.Only point of product improvement I can think of is either changing their shape to have a slightly thicker "stem" part or applying slightly thicker peeling paper to them so that it's easier to remove. Usually, the paper tends to come off in two pieces and the little flower/butterfly stem part is where it usually tears, so you end up having to touch the sticky part to pull off the rest of the paper. These are sticky enough though that having to touch it to get the peeling paper all the way off is no big deal. It will still be plenty sticky if you have to touch it.Worth every penny! Will definitely be buying more when I run out of my first order!

Worth the money!
My roses had a bad infestation of whiteflies. I put vaseline on yellow solo cups and that did very little to catch the flies. These were $6 for 12 and solved my whitefly problem! Literally within minutes of putting the first few up, they were about 30% covered with flies. Now I don't see any flies even when I shake the rose bushes and if you've ever had whiteflies you know that they are very hard to get rid of and swarm when you shake the branches. I can't say it enough- if you have whiteflies, don't spray (it doesn't work anyway), just get these. The shape makes you thing they stick into the ground. They don't. The triangle on the bottom is sticky as well and they're flexible. But this is actually better. you hang them up in the bush and that's where the flies are anyway. I have a lot of roses and still didn't even have to use all of these because they were so effective. 100% recommend!

Works Extremely Well
A bag of potting mix I bought had some of those irritating fruit flies in them so I was forced to spend a month battling them, and these were really helpful. The yellow supposedly attracts the flies and it's super sticky so as soon as they touch it they are stuck. They are sticky enough that if a plant leaf touches on it's also stuck (it can do damage, so be aware if you have plants the actively move their leaves around during the day), but not sticky enough to stick to the side of the pot on its own (I used tape). The one complaint I really have is how hard it is to remove the paper backings.

Wonderful
They work great but hard to get off fingers when putting into plant soil.

Effective in the way that I needed, and also in the way I did not
I ordered these when it became apparent that I had a fungus gnat problem in my potted plants and I was swatting bugs multiple times a day. They arrived quickly and though sometimes it was a little tricky to peel the protective paper off the adhesive surface of the butterfly-shaped traps, they were VERY effective at bringing my gnat population way way down.I think it says somewhere on the packaging that they're good for 2-3 weeks and I believe that to be true because after the initial culling of the gnats, there was an evident second round a week or so later when the remaining space on the traps almost filled up.A word of advice, wash your hands THOROUGHLY if you touch the sticky part of the trap. In my haste I did not on one occasion and carried on my merry way. Later when bugs started dive bombing my FACE, I realized I must have inadvertently spread bug pheromones all over it via my unwashed hands.Overall scores:10/10 this bait works10/10 wash your hands if you touch it
