Excellent A/V receiver for the money; has all the preouts you need as well
Ok so this is my 3rd Denon a/v receiver. I now own, x3600, x 3800h, x4800h. All 3 have all the the preouts you need to connect them to an amp. Which is why I bought those models. Anyway, This X4800H I made sure was the shorter model so it had room to "breathe" between the top and the next shelf. It's wired to a Monolith 7x. I have plenty of wattage/headroom. Now it is hooked to excellent speakers as well, so that makes the sound quality great!! Although I would bet the sound quality is very good with average speakers. All the Denon receivers sound very good to me, with all speakers. It is heavy, but that is a good sign of a good build/ quality. Everything works as expected and very good too!. I had a Marantz 7015, but replaced it with this x4800h and am not sorry at all. I think the X4800h sound better, a little clearer. You can hear more instruments through this X4800 as well, IMO. I thought the price was inexpensive since I had been watching the prices for over 2 years. Do yourself a favor and buy the one you want first. Other wise I would not have one of the other ones. The 3700 is in the bedroom. They changed the menus some, but I was able to figure it out anyway. However, it DOES have Dirac Live, but I only set it up with Audessy.

Super Awesome! Get it if you can swing the price!
Update: Dirac Live is out, making this AVR just amazing! You'll need a MiniDSP Umik-1, a mic stand for positioning, your laptop and a Dirac Live Full** license for the 4800. It really is able to bring everything into this cohesive sound stage that is so much better than Audyssey XT32. If you were looking for a reason to upgrade to a 3800 or 4800, it's here now. I knew it would be, but Dirac Live is a game changer for Denon and Marantz. Highly, highly recommend! So the AVR-X4800h is really everything most people could possibly need for excellent and engaging sound at home. If you can swing the price, it's amazing! Just waiting for Dirac Live to release in March of '23 lol. Now let me tell you what you need to know about owning this thing. You need great sounding speakers that will probably cost quite a bit more than this (5.1.4 for atmos is my setup), high quality speaker wire and banana plugs, high quality HDMI cables and to do a little research on operating it. Until Direc Live is released you'll be using Audyssey, which is good with but with some limitations. You'll need the Audyssey app on a large phone screen or tablet. Set up the speakers, turn off midrange compensation, cap the Eq to 300 hz on each speaker, turn off all the extra junk and eq. After you upload your settings to the receiver, go into the receiver settings menu and make sure the volumes actually match and sound good, I usually bump all of them up from default settings that Audyssey selects during setup. Now you need quality sources right? Apple TV 4K, Xbox Series X (Purchase the Atmos App), PC with HDMI, and I'm sure the PS5 is good, just not my cup of tea. If you have a Blu Ray player, find some atmos content. I wouldn't recommend using "smart TV" apps and arc back to the receiver, you don't need that nonsense laggy TV stuff, just get an Apple TV and everything will be seamless (not even an Apple fan, but it's the best streaming device out by far). I am coming from a X3600h and I can say with confidence that now is a good time to make an upgrade. This one is actually made in Japan, not exactly common these days. If you're a Marantz fan it's equivalent to a Cinema 40, except about 1k less lol. Most people that write bad reviews either don't bother to look into what they are buying, how to use it, or went cheap on the stuff you need to let this thing shine such as: speakers, sub, wiring etc. This is an amazing and sophisticated sound computer essentially, a little steep on price but should last you a long long time.

High quality, high power, uber feature 4K/8K AVR
I decided earlier this year to upgrade my 7 year old AVR. I was tired of work arounds for security protocols and was waiting for the new HDMI 2.1. I planned on getting a top tier model in my price range, power needs and somewhat future proof for at least 5 years and hopefully longer. When the new 8K Denons came out, I was interested and then was just waiting for the models to arrive. I chose this model because this is the level of power I needed, features I wanted and didn't need the upgrades on the 6700. OK, so AVRs essentially build upon previous years features. The new features that I like the most are 1) the amplifier, it powers 7 channels and makes my speakers sound better than the last AVR. Surround sound is tight and defined and I definitely feel and hear a difference when watching movies. I also feel that 2 channel audio sounds better. So, as far as the amplifier, I am very happy with the performance. 2) built in blue tooth has been used more than I though I would, not a big deal, not new tech, but very nice to have when I want to listen with wireless headphones. 3) streaming works better than my previous AVR with the Denon App and the HEOS app. 4) Audyssey room correction seems to have done a better job than previous AVR, movie surround sound are really engaging, bass is tighter and actually mid bass(chest thump bass) really has come alive. 5) new surround sound formats, I had Atmos, now I have DTS-X and a couple others that are not generally common, but good for future proofing. 6) Everything works with the new tech. I cannot comment on 8K, however, supposedly everything will upconvert. I have definitely noticed a video improvement, especially when watching cable. Some of the non-major cable networks were hard to watch, I thought it was bandwidth(and it may be), however, with the new Denon, every channel is clearer, smoother, sharper and sounds better. So, overall, a really nice unit. It is costly, but I use it almost every day and movies and tv is more fun to watch. Plus, they have excellent videos on their products and support, at least in my experience. Most fun upgrade with an AVR and I am still finding new things and still tweaking after about a month.

Denon AVR-X4700H 8K Ultra HD 9.2 Canales (125 W x 9)
Me impresionó.
