- Each time they created a new one, the products got new ideas added in and more and more sophisticated. Eventually, they gave birth to the very high quality strap-the Ninja Camera Strap. At first, they were making them for their friends when they were asked. Eventually, they get acquainted with a Japanese messenger bag brand FREDRICK PACKERS and it led to the Diagnl brand today.
- David Munson was a cyclist and an apprentice of a professional photographer. He came up with the idea of this strap in 2005 when he wanted to make something out of a plastic buckle of his worn-off messenger bag. He contacted a Japanese friend he met on the internet. The friend told him that there is an area in Japan where shops specialized in buckles and belts are gathered. And he liked David's idea of the camera strap. He sent materials from Japan to David in Missouri and they started competing in making new straps.
Buckles & D rings are what Diagnl is very particular about. The strap is equipped with a National Molding's US made buckle (Fastex), which is also used in US military equipment including MOLLE gears. Military quality Fastex has exellent durability. (*Recently, there are models made in Asia; however, Diagnl selectively uses US maid ones). The D ring uses Duraflex also made by National Molding. The nylon made D-ring functions very smoothly while it is moderately soft, highly durable and hard to get cracked. It is as well used in buckles and other parts for government-issued US military equipment like MOLLE systems. Both parts used in the Diagnl strap are highly reliable.
