Berkley Choppo Fishing Hard Bait

Third cast and caught a 6.2 pound largemouth. Fun!

I had used whopper ploppers in the past and loved the strikes they get. I bought the berkley version and had similar success with it. It seems like it drags a bit more in the water, but at sunset on a summer day it will routinely get a bass to blast it. The hooks are very sharp and effective, I've hooked several fish on near misses. Get a few of these and enjoy yourself.

This is my second Choppo. I got the 75mm as I felt the 90mm was a little big for the waters I normally fish. The 75 is perfect for smaller streams. The biggest complaint is the treble hooks foul up easily like all treble hooks do but I haven't had many other issues. The bait runs straight and fish want to hit this bait. I've only had this out on the water once as I just got the smaller version and caught two bass in the first 5 minutes. I know people say this bait is good to a fault because you want to keep using it even if it isn't producing because it casts and retrieves fast and easy. Plus topwater is addictive.

My grandson picked it out for Christmas & he is so excited to use it this next fishing season.

I have been struggling to catch ANY fish for the last month. After fishing for an hour today with zero bites, I got this out of my tackle box and thought I'd try it out. It was windy and cool, and I figured WTH, it can't hurt to throw it out. Holy crap! I caught a large mouth on my first cast, then 8 more over the next couple of hours. I pissed off so many fish today, it's not even funny. This thing got SO many reactions. Fish swam HARD at it. I'll be buying another one, for sure.

The stars aligned - The day I got this lure, I took it out to the pond and caught a nice fish, next day 2 more with several other blow ups. So I ordered 2 more. But now it’s gone cold. You can cast it a mile and I love the action. This lure doesn’t like grass - clogs it up. I want to try the saltwater version inshore. I love that it floats but acts like buzz bait.

The lure has a sturdy feel to it, while not being excessively heavy. The hooks are sharp! It got delivered early.

I’ve had great luck with this lure for freshwater bass. So, figured might as well try it in the ocean surf fishing. Just have to make sure no seagulls are around to try to scoop it up.

Works great, now my go to lure. Caught Smallmouth bass on 2 trips, when nothing else was working. Lost one, had to buy another replacement.

I was getting hit by smallmouth bass and even the brave perch until a pike broke off my 12 lbs fluorocarbon line. I'll order another one right away.
