Shambles
I have had 2 of this - One from the late Staples and one from this dealer and both packed up the same way with the returning spring always jumping out and quite tricky to return back!!! Feel really disappointed because I had high hopes based on the previous review and coupled with my use within the first week. The only good thing about it is that it can hold a higher volume of papers compared to all the other staplers of the same size.

Leitz 5560 long arm stapler black and grey
We have found our two German made Leitz 5560 staplers well up to the job of stapleing our twelve page A5 Parish Magazine, 1250 copies of which we collate and distribute monthly. I have just bought another Leitz 5560 from Amazon which was delivered today speedily and efficiently as usual, as one of the two earlier models we have been using for the last two years has just failed, and I haven't yet got round to mending it but I'm sure it has done at least its 15000 copies, which isn't bad. I have given it 4 stars instead of five only because the model number is the same but I notice this model is made in China, larger and more robust than the previous ones, and its loading mechanism is different although very familiar and seems to work fine as I have loaded it with our usual No 18 26/8 Rexel staples and tried it out. I admit that I have not tried it on its 625 copies I expect of it each month yet, but it looks as well engineered if not better than our other older two. I just use some insulating tape to hold the slide in place for A5 size and have no difficulty positioning the spacer and keeping it in place. According to information on the box it can take 24/6,24/8 and 26/8 staple sizes and page sizes double what we use it for. It has a 10 year guarantee which is impressive, although quite what that means I'm not sure. I would add that I have always found the long arm staplers of whatever make somewhat temperamental and sometimes jam and I always have a pair of long nose pliers handy to remove the offending jammed staple. Rather tediously using one for larger numbers is possibly not a best idea and something approaching an acquired skill, but certainly on the reviewed stapler I find jamming doesn't happen very often. It was a good price and well made and I have no hesitation in recommending others buying it from Amazon as I did.

Leitz 5504
It is difficult to find a stapler of the quality seen in years gone by.I owned a Offrex Robust which was finely engineered and never jammed or failed to work. Unfortunately the 50/60 staples are no longer available. I had tried a few office staplers which were not reliable so I looked for a more up market one . The construction is solid but still contains some plastic but the important parts are well constructed to a fine tolerance and to date I have been happy with it. Whether it will be still working in 40 years time like the Offrex ( if the staples were still available) I somehow doubt but then neither will I ! I think this stapler is probably one of the best available presently on the market.

Disappointing
I was disappointed with this stapler. For the price I think it is a bit small and feeble. I do not anticipate it lasting very long. Compared to other Leitz products it does not feel very strong. Saying that up to now it is doing its job - we will see how long it does last.
