The answer to that question is - that DG coffee pods taste nicer. Tassimo has a bit of a plastic taste in comparisan. Yes, there are much better coffee machiens which run off beans - which is great if you have the time for that. If you're looking for a great coffee which doesn't take long to make, go for Dolce Gusto...maybe Nespresso.This machine in particular makes some great coffee compared to the old Tassimo machine - I don't find myself using the syrup as much as I did with the Tassimo machine, although that it really more down to the great range of drinks available both from DG and third parties. I can highly reccomend the Chococino - it tastes like chocolate brownies.The only thing DG doesn't have compared to Tassimo is the range - by which I mean 'official range'. There are more thind-party pod options, which are MUCH more affordable. Some people do complain that third party pods mess up their machines - with this machine in particular, some third party pods drip a little, which can be remedied by leaving a spare empty cup under the nozzle. It doesn't have any effect on the machine - unlike some of the more expensive and fussier DG machines.The only critisim I have of this machine is the spill tray. The Bosch Tassimo machine this one replaced had a metal cover, affording an easy clean. This machine has a sort of beveled pattern - whilst it CAN be cleaned, you have to run paper towels into all of the groves, otherwise your room is going to smell like stagnant water. The practical remedy for this I've already outlined - leave a cup under the nozzle at ALL times when not it use. You can use the cup to collect all of the empty pods as well - because if like me you have an office bin without a lid - again, you'll get the smell of stagnant water, as well the actual water accumulating at the bottom of your bin. We use the cup for the empty pods, which we transfer at a more convenient time to our kitchen bin.

Works well and so easy to use my other half can do it. Love the fact you can walk away and leave it and itb will stop when finished. Like that you can select size of drink and temperature very easily. One very minor issue.... if you forget to take the pod out it can get stuck...not easy to get out

Wanted to get a coffee machine that offered lots of different drinks. This is great as you match the capsule bars with the machine, the water container is small, but you just fill it up when you use it. Has hot and cold options and strength for the coffee/expresso.

We have had three Dolce Gusto coffee makers over the years, as we like the coffee and the ease of making it. This coffee maker is by far the best. Easy to use and simple to keep clean. Thoroughly recommend it.
