Great party bag filler or Christmas Eve box item
I bought 2 boxes of these to use in party bags for my son's birthday party, which is a few days before Christmas. I hope the parents will appreciate a winter themed activity to keep the kids occupied in the holidays. I realise they may intensly hate me for giving them a messy activity, but it could be worse, I could have chosen plastic whistles or party blowers. At time of purchase it was £15 for a box of 24 sachets. Since I'm inviting approximately 35 children and I couldn't find the individual sachets for less than £1 each plus postage, it made more sense to buy two boxes and keep the spares for my own kids. We've had a different brand of the exact same stuff before so I knew what to expect. One small sachet will fill a large mixing bowl with 'sno'. When you pour the water in you think it is too much, but it quickly absorbs and expands. It is a super absorbent polymer, the kind of stuff you get inside a disposable nappy, is non toxic and it is 100% biodegradable. If you mix it up with water from the fridge it adds to the sensory experience. I don't know if people actually have snow ball fights with this stuff, but I wouldn't recommend it. The packet says you can put it in the garden and sweep it up when it is dry, but this seems like a bad idea to me, since it is rarely dry in the UK and you'd probably end up with slippy gel that never went away. However, you can keep it in a container and it will last for a long time.We use it like we use general sand/water/rice play., afine motor games and for small world play. My kids like to hide treasure and plastic pearls in it for each other, you can do tweezer skills, writing practice and mark making etc My kids like to play with their toy cars (Everest in her snow vehicle in particular) and other small figures, (they had a straight up first fight for Olaf). These would be a fun activity for Elf on the Shelf scenes or Christmas Eve boxes, grotto gifts, or gifts from nursery or school teachers.
