We call our Four Seasons Fan "Aikido" because it turns the attacker's strength against itself
To reduce expenses and to help protect the environment, in early 2021 our household started taking a number of measures to cut our energy consumption. Those measures have proven successful: total 2021 electricity consumption in our single-family, detached home in the US SE was about 8,000 kWh (3,200 of which was for HVAC), compared to about 11,000 kWh annual average in previous years. [UPDATE on 1/1/23: our total electricity consumption in 2022 dropped even further to just 5,500 kWh (1,600 of which was for HVAC) for the year. We have HALVED our electricity consumption. Huge savings. Our Four Seasons Solar Vent continues to operate beautifully.]Readings from an AcuRite Wireless Indoor Outdoor Temperature and Humidity Sensor (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T0K8NXC) in the attic revealed that we had a big problem up there. The amount of soffit vent intake was fine, but we didn’t have nearly enough in the way of roof vents. On hot summer days, when the sun pounds relentlessly for hours on the roof, heat was building up in the attic so much that it was being pushed down through the ceiling. Even the thick layer of insulation we have up there was no match for the heat.Someone who practices Aikido aims to turn an attacker’s strength against itself. Could we turn the strength of the sun against itself to cool our attic? After much research, we settled on this Four Seasons Solar-Powered Vent, and we are pleased we did. It is easy to install & efficient, and we can’t hear it at all in the house, even in the room directly below it. We installed ours in August of 2021; today it is as good as new. Here are some other products we purchased at Amazon that we can recommend to those interested in cutting home energy consumption:Aootek solar lights 120 LEDs with lights reflector, 270 degree Wide Angle, IP65 Waterproof, Security Lights for Front Door, Yard, Garage, Deck (4 pack): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NQ4L1SB , as well as Solar Lights Outdoor,WWimy 210 LED 2500LM Motion Sensor Lights with Remote Control, 3 Heads Security LED Flood Lights, IP65 Waterproof, 270° Wide Angle Illumination Wall Lights with 3 Modes (2 Packs): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08T9F2MM1 Purchased in August 2021, these lights continue to work well here in the SE, saving us over 150 kWh/year. We shared some of these lights with relatives in the North; they also report that their lights are going strong after a rough winter.STATINT Window Film Privacy One Way Daytime Mirror Static Non-Adhesive Solar Glass Film Heat Control: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W3VCZNF Dramatically reduces amount of direct sunlight, gives privacy by day, and protects from shattering.Kuman KW47-US Electricity Usage Monitor Plug Power Watt Voltage Amps Meter with Digital LCD www.amazon.com/Electricity-Monitor-Voltage-Overload-Protection/dp/B07DPJ3RGB Looking back, we can say that purchasing a Usage Monitor Plug has been one of our wisest and most useful moves, and a very inexpensive one at that.Klein Tools TI250 Rechargeable Thermal Imager: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089QW8R9S This tool, along with the Usage Monitor Plug, gave us a very good picture of where we were wasting energy. It was thanks to this tool that we realized, for example, that our then uninsulated recessed lights were really problematic, prompting us to purchase the following.FF130E Recessed Light Cover: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XVPUAO If you have recessed lights and they’re not well insulated in the attic, energy wastage can be massive. These were easy to put in, sealed with Great Stuff: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KSANBTYAcuRite Wireless Indoor Outdoor Temperature and Humidity Sensor: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T0K8NXC We got two of these to go with our AcuRite weather station. They allow us to monitor temperature and humidity in four places at once: outside, in our living room, in our crawlspace, and in our unfinished attic. Thanks to these readings, we have established a smarter, more energy-efficient way of ventilating our crawlspace. They also helped us see that our attic needed additional ventilation in the roof.RYB HOME Room Darkening Patio Door Curtain, Hanging Room Divider Screen Insulated Drapes Privacy Wall Panel: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D32DJ2V , as well as RYB HOME Blackout Curtains & Drapes - Total Privacy Thermal Efficiency Backdrop Curtains for Bedroom Room Divider Vertical Blind Living Room Patio Sliding Glass Door: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077SZRBNJGrandekor Blackout Window Blinds and Shades Cordless Cellular Shades: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NWBGVL3

Good quality
I installed this item on my roof in Barbados. The only purpose was to remove hot air in my attic. Installation depends on your ability. I had the necessary tools and installed it in about an hour and a half. Note that to exit air, you will need an opening for cool air to get into the attic. Most people will needs this installed by a roofer. The product quality is good and I could not expect it to work any better. The price is on the high side. On reflection I should have purchased a larger one that moves 600 to 800 cfm.

Did not change temperature in house. Cracked after 10mo leaking
The media could not be loaded. I bought two of these exhause fans last year, so this year I was excited to see the difference in average temperature this summer. Average temperature went up. Having two of these in my roof wasn't powerful enough to have significant positive change. I wasted money. It's raining alot recently and it's leaking, so now I have stains on my ceiling. I really regret buying these.Update: I went in the attc crawlspace and found they both cracked down the middle in the same spot. I need a refund these are a problem.

Excellent solar fan
Easy fan to install. This fan will work in cloudy weather, poring down rain, and sunshine. The fan will accelerate, and decelerate according to the weather outside on its own.Example when it's cloudy, and rainy it will go slow, when it's full sun it will go full blast. Not to noisy.Where I live in Hawaii we get approximately 250" of rain per year this fan has been hammered on by wind, and rain for 2 years since I bought it.To seal the fan I used a product called through the roof, you can by it in a tub,or a caulking tube just put some on the wall, and the fan housing.I highly recommend this fan for any type of building. My building is 400sq',and it's cool inside all day rain,or shine.Hats off to you,and Thank You for the free hat.Aloha

Not enough air
Well made but they just don’t move enough air. Not worth it for the price. Low volume, no thermostat or humidistat.
