50 Successful Ivy League Application Essays

The first two essays I read were from 2006 and 2008 — I learned this from searching up the writers' names on Linkedin. The book should be more clear about when essays were written, as admissions in 2021 is dramatically more selective than admissions in the mid-2000s.

Best suited to high school students rather than college students trying to get into a PhD program. Book was in good condition

Great book. My son attending Loyola Marymount & Standford (mixed emotions, I went to Cal).

The essays in this book and the essay authors' comments at the end were very helpful. Each essay is well written and gives a good glimpse into college admissions. It helps you brainstorm a bit if you're at this stage in life.

You never know if the students who wrote these essays got in because of their writing... or because of other factors.I found the website AdmitSee.com much more helpful, because at least when you buy a package of Harvard profiles there, you can see EVERYTHING that went into the application file--not just the essay. You can see clubs the students were involved in, background information, and more. I'd recommend visiting that site before buying this book--at the very least, you should browse essay intros for free on the AdmitSee Essays Tab.

Extremely helpful, especially if you are at a loss of where to start.
