A treat that's good for your ferret!
I've lived with ferrets for over 20 years and as any ferret's human can tell you, each and every one is different. Some steal people food or have a fixation for this or that item of people food while others will have nothing to do with people food. Over the years, I've lost two ferrets to adrenal disease and its related illnesses. To better serve the needs of my furry little friends, our vet, Dr. Barrios (Dr. Wilfredo Barriosnuevo), a noted ferret specialist, suggested a careful read of the ingredients for each and every treat and food item that my ferret eats regularly. While treating a ferret for adrenal disease, he reminded me that items high in processed sugar can make adrenal issues worse and that likewise, items high in sugar can predispose a ferret to adrenal disease in much the same way that drinking large amounts of sugary beverages can predispose a human to onset diabetes.Meaty Bacon flavored Bandits fits the bill as it does not contain sugar as one of its first ingredients. A good number of the ferrets who have lived with me have enjoyed various flavors of Bandits and this one more than most. It's high in meat protein so it's likely good for ferrets, who are obligate carnivores and who can't process much of the fillers found in many other treats. My little girl ferret, easily the most finicky eater I've ever met, loves them. In fact, these and the raisn flavor are the only things she will take as a treat. She may possibly be the only ferret in creation that won't touch linatone or duck soup. What you should know about this product is that it's not food or a substitute for food. Your ferret needs a healthy diet of veterinarian approved food specified for ferrets. This item is a treat, to supplement that food or to provide a dessert. (One of my previous ferrets needed a treat to start dinner, or he wouldn't eat!) While I am not a vet or vet tech, I have observed that in most of the ferrets with whom I have lived, getting too many Bandits in one day usually leads to loose, smelly stools, so if your ferret wears the pants in the family and can get treats out of anyone, be warned. Not only is this unpleasant, but it can dehydrate your ferret if allowed to go on for more any length of time. You should also be aware that ferrets decide what is food and what are treats very early in their life. Unlike dogs or cats, most will not experiment or try something new. If you've never offered Bandits to your older ferret, it may totally ignore these as it doesn't see them as food or treats. Finally, as this is written, you should also be aware that this product has not been in any local stores for going on four to five months. It appears that Marshall Farms is chaning their packaging and that this may be the cause, but it's worth noting.

Mmmm..Bacon
I have two ferrets and my chubbier one LOVES these treats. The skinnier one will eat them whenever she feels like it, but that isn't that often. I give them a treat when I let them out and the bigger one doesn't run off to be mischievous until she gets her bacon treat! She'll gently take it out of my hand and then run off and hide under the couch or dresser until she finishes it and typically by that time the other ferret has abandoned hers so she'll come and eat that one also. I have used these to teach the bigger one to roll over! She won't do it by voice command but if you hold the treat over her head for a second she'll roll over to get it. Pretty powerful treats! One thing I will say is the smell from the bag is a little strange but there is a hint of bacon in there somewhere I think..Overall I would recommend these treats in moderation and over the other flavors of the Bandits treats. Also, I don't recommend trying one yourself........that was a mistake.

Healthy, but ingredients vary w/ flavor
Make sure you look up the ingredients before buying. Not all flavors have the same ingredients. The peanut butter treats are actually fairly healthy. The first 3 ingredients are all meat, and not mechanically separated or anything like that. Unfortunately I was unable to find if any sugar was added to things like the peanut butter. However, I have not noticed any issues with my ferrets.

ferrret loves them
My ferret seems to like these better than any other peanut butter treat. Just have to put in extra ziplock. for freshness because the treat bags don't stay or won't zip & treats dry out

My ferrets love it!
It is not the best quality treats for ferrets, since there is a lot of fiber, and ferrets should not eat fiber... But they love it...!
