[NEST Thermostat 's Best Friend ] Little Artisan -Thermostat Guard For Nest thermostat 2nd and 3rd Generation I bought this because it was big enough to cover the unpainted wall left by the old thermostat not for keeping kids from ripping it off the wall. I was easy enough to install, but because of the plastic cover it prevents the Nest thermostat to light up when you enter the room because the cover blocks the motion detection of the Nest. So you are defeating one of the benefits of the Nest called Farsight. It will work if you leave the cover open, but that is unsightly. They should have mentioned this in the description. I tried to return it however; it says after you click on Amazon's return button that it is not returnable. They should have an option of whether you want that ugly cover on it or not.

I bought this because my toddler kept pulling the nest off the wall, over and over and over. It was just a matter of time before he also threw it across the room. It seems to be deterring him, although it doesn't lock. I had to add heavy duty Velcro to the attachment to keep him from being able to easily open it. I do wish it wasn't so strange looking, the combination of the blue ring and the brass colored plate is very eye catching. This is not unobtrusive and we will be removing it as soon as junior stops climbing the furniture like a monkey.

I regret buying this item. I bought it to keep my son from taking the Nest off of the wall, and all I ended up doing was putting holes in my wall. The magnet that keeps the door closed is pretty pathetic, and doesn't even line up with the door. I would not recommend buying this.

too big to use in small home, its a distraction instead of compliment

It doesn’t work since nest can’t pick upMovement through the plastic dome that protects it. Best will go into eco mode thinking no one is at the house.

My item arrive broken

the design of this is atrocious - dimensions are too big (could be a tighter = smaller around nest), color elections (plate and blue seal) are questionable, to say the least, and manufacturing is tasteless. all this said, it is designed for the mission - if you have kids who like to take net off the wall or wack it with something because it lights up when you approach - the product does the job. it would be too easy for someone else to redesign this product to make it aesthetically pleasing and functional.
