PURELL Hand Sanitiser 500ml

After researching antibacterial hand washes late into the entire 2020 affair, I could take solace in the likelihood that the market would now have all the options I could ever want. My needs are different to most however, as I am looking for a solution when out on the trail: this will be going into a “bug-out-bag” / “A-to-B bag” / “72hr bag”.The first thing that I did was to see what was trusted by health professionals today, and that would be in aftermath of the hand washing scandal which plagued the NHS in the mid noughties, through to the mid tens of this century. Checking the NHS's current supply chain procurement I found that Purell, with a number of other brands, has been well and truly embedded into their supply chain for at least over fifteen years (Product details : MRB1307). Gojo (Purell’s parent company) were also very forthcoming with their MSDS data on their website, which was encouraging.With my confidence in this brand’s ability, I then mulled its suitability for my application: it had to be odourless, as the human tongue can only sense: sweet, sour, bitter and salty sensations, it is the smell that lets you know the difference between an apple and an orange, and I didn’t want anything to interfere at meal time (particularly as I would be using my hands to eat while on the move).My man sized hands demanded a dosage size of four one, new penny pieces, stacked on top of each other, to give me enough time to rub over the entirety of the surface of my hands, between the webbing of my fingers, and the cuticles of my nails. But, may need a little more if I wanted to reach my wrists (as advised on the bottle). However, assuming that one’s hands are not completely soiled, the worst of which this is not designed to remove, this “final wash” will (according to the manufacturer) kill 99.99% of bacteria, which is what I would need while eating on the trail.My crude test found that after thirty two seconds of rubbing the gel over my hands, that only then, the chloroform like dizzying odour that seventy per cent proof Ethyl alcohol will have when overwhelming your nose (Roja Dove, the pre-eminent perfumer from the UK confirms that when sampling essential oils that it is the alcohol content which fatigues the brain, not the nose - and he uses 70% proof for his perfumes), will instantly disappear once the serum has fully evaporated. The feeling while washing the serum over your hands is like toothpaste in your mouth, very refreshing, and so long as your hands are not too close to your nose your nasal senses will not be overwhelmed. The final result is that your hands will be left fresh smelling, as if you had just been given new skin, like a newborn, it is a very encouraging experience.CONCLUSION• The antibacterial agent has been in use in the NHS for over fifteen years, it has a proven track record.• It is manufactured in France for the UK market, and is from an American company (c1988).• The viscosity of the serum allows the hands to glide as if under running water.• The alcohol content is 10% above health accreditors recommendations from the most developed countries (Ethyl alcohol : 70%)• The odour from the alcohol (while wet) is very strong, but not noticeable at arms length.• It dries completely odourless, which is perfect before eating while out and about.• It is reasonably priced.

Great hand sanitiser, a brand you can trust and at a good price. I use this to refill the small sanitiser bottles and can't complain. This has not made my hands dry like some others did and the smell is not too strong and it is non sticky too. Another random plus is that for a long time I had a verruca next to my finger nail that with treatment over two years didn't go away. After using this during covid I noticed after swapping to this sanitiser that it started shrinking and has now completely gone away.

Great price for a good product. One of the best hand sanitisers at a good price. Well packaged, and delivered quickly. Would recommend.

This is a great hand gel - quickly absorbed & doesn’t make your hands too dry, so can use it regularly. Arrived on schedule and with appropriate wrapping

I have been trying to get Purell since March and finally I have it. Its a trusted brand used in hospitals and other clinical places.I didn't recognise the bottle shape but I went on Purells web page and to enable production on a larger scale or to keep it going whichever way you want to look at it they have started using these bottles as well as the traditional shapes which is an excellent move.I bought this size to use to refill the smaller hand size bottles. Thanks Purell for thinking outside the box
