Wow!
Her Daughter’s CryThis is my second M.M. Chouinard book and will not be my last! This was was WOW! It was intense, scary, confusing, and emotional! I will admit, I hated Marissas character, which I think was the authors goal. I didn’t feel bad for her AT ALL because in my opinion, she’s a terrible human being. I never met Sara, but seems like she had a great head on her shoulders. This story follows the life of a woman who wakesUp in the woods, covered in blood, with no memory of how she got there, or who she is. She makes her way to a store where she collapses and ends up in the hospital. Detective Jos is on the case. They figure that the amount of blood on “Zoe’s” shirt couldn’t be from her so they begin trying to piece things together. They place Zoe in a facility can she can safe, until someone claiming to be her husband shows up and flees. As the story goes on, it is revealed that Zoe has a daughter and that’s the blood that was on her shirt. Determined to save her daughter, Zoe escapes from the facility and sets out to find out what happened to her.On her journey, memories start to return sporadically and we learn that Zoe/Marissa wasn’t a nice woman. Twists and turns keepHappening which kept my turning page after page until I finished. I never in a million years would have expected that ending. I was enraged, sad, emotional and upset. If an author can get that many feelings out of me, then the book is a success!Grab a copy so you can find out what I mean!

Gripping Thriller- But Reader Might Guess the Killer
No doubt M. M. Chouinard is a fine mystery writer. I enjoyed her previous two books. In "Her Daughter's Cry" this author deals with a woman who apparently fled from a crime scene, her clothes bloodied, and some of her memory lapsed. Detectives Fournier and Arnett have their work cut out for them not only to help find out the woman's identity, but to find out the source of this crime. After being sent to a rest home to settle down, the victim flees the facility, steals an SUV, then tries to hunt for.....her daughter? Spoiler alert! We find out later about her current husband and her former husband. And this is where twist after twist occurs. Unfortunately, the reader is bound to guess the killer midway into the book! It then becomes an exercise from Fournier and Arnett to unravel this often confusing and complex series of events that help to finally arrest the perpetrator. This is still an exciting thriller to look into.

This book has a bait & switch synopsis. It misleads as to the crime fiction sub-genre.
3.5 starsAs written, the synopsis hooked me, and I expected to read a mystery-thriller about an amnesiac mother—who learns that something terrible happened to her daughter. The neurologist believes Mrs. Amnesiac’s dramatic memory loss has psychological trauma components. From the lovely cover art of a girl, I imagined the mom would be desperate to find her teenaged daughter. Or perhaps she’s a tweeny.THIS IS A POLICE PROCEDURAL. Yeah, I shouted it. Maybe Marketing did it, because mystery thrillers might sell better than procedurals. The police protagonists are detectives, Jo Fournier and Bob Arnett, who investigate who, what, why & when about the amnesiac. Due to the amount of blood on her clothing, a medico-legal investigator knows someone is badly injured or possibly dead. At 28% Kindle mark, at last, a crime scene is discovered. The secondary storyline is about Mrs. Amnesiac running from a dangerous man and from the police. I revised the missing daughter’s age upwards, by a lot, because Jo Fournier notes Mrs. Amnesiac’s crow’s feet—which means she’s fifty, give or take five years. The drama subplot is driven by Jo Fournier, who—at thirty-seven—is unmarried, has verbal tiffs with mom, memories of her dead fiancé, a persistent ex-boyfriend, and another, more complicated problem. I adore Jo Fournier, who is a strong, no nonsense female police protagonist. This was a decent police procedural with several interesting twists, although solution(s) and villain-reveals were not surprising. There are enough hints about Mrs. Amnesiac’s character pre-head bump, and the author cunningly but patiently transfigures her personality. A stern copy editor and a sharp red pen could’ve trimmed ~50-75 pages.3.5 Dropped one star due misleading synopsis.

You'll be crying out for more!
There's only one downside when discussing M. M. Chouinard, THERE AREN'T ENOUGH NOVELS TO KEEP ME READING! It's been years since I've found an author that really keeps me hanging on, and Chouinard does it well! The Jo Fournier series have realistic investigative details that bring you into the mindset of the detectives. Her villains are believable and intriguing. She gets you into the minds of all characters without extra confusing dialogue to just fill space. I was unable to get ahead of her and "figure it out" so there are nice surprises along the way. I've finished the Fournier series and am saving "The Vacation for our upcoming beach vacation. It's really hard to not cheat and start it early. I am hoping there are more Fournier novels in the future. I really dont think you can go wrong with any of her novels.

Her Daughters Cry... mind blowing. Highly Recommend
This book had me drawn in from the first page and I could not put it down. As I was getting further into it I was wanted to slow down so it wouldn’t end. Honestly I haven’t read a book in 20 years or more. I tried a couples times but the book was never interested enough to finish it. This book had me trapped, lol. I love mysteries and I’m usually good at figuring them out but I could not figure this one out. I pictured every word I read and could not imagine what the end was goons be. Thank you so much and now I’m on to the next one of your books. I’m hoping it’ll be as good as this one. And keep me wanting more. I’m passing this on to my daughters I know they’ll love it as much as I did.

Engrossing!
Having read Michelle Chouinard’s previous two books and having loved them, I was delighted that Her Daughter’s Cry, the latest installment in the Lo Fournier series, maintained the same high standard of writing and tight rope suspense as the previous two. I found the story engrossing on a number of levels, and while the pace was Ms Chouinard's trademark breakneck from the moment the woman stumbled from the woods, the narrative in places was incredibly gentle and anyone who has read the book will know why. No hesitation: 5 stars from me.

Another great addition to this great series
Number 3 in the series and the plots just get better and better and more importantly they are so clever and original.A woman emerges from the forest, battered and bruised but has no idea who she is and what has happened to her, and so beings a brilliantly executed tale
