Interesting findings, Honorable principles
I found the book to be easily read and understood. I used it to write a comparison contrast paper; referencing my leadership style with what I learned of Colin Powell's principles. I was pleasantly surprised of the similarities although we have been engaged in vastly different employment scenarios.Colin Powell's principles are interesting. They are simple and follow ethical guidelines. I admire his outlooks. I generally have practiced similar work ethics and supervisory guidelines prior to learning his. However, I look forward to incorporating the principles I had not been utilizing. The service of Amazon was right on the money as well. The purchase was delivered as promised without any "issues".

Powell and Leadership
This book is great for identifying key success factors in effective leadership. Each principle stands on its own and is laced with Powell's experience in many different venues. It is not about the Military, Government, Non-profits or any one specific area. It is about effective leadership in a very direct and common sense format. Highly recommended.

An Enlightening Read
I am a fan of Colin Powell and his leadership style. This book allowed me to get an idea of his leadership style and the principles behind them. It reinforced my belief that he is transparent in his views and actions. If you are looking for radical ideas this may not be the book for you and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. Mr. Powell believes in treating people, like people.

Good Reading
I heard General Powell at a conference. I was impressed with his humor and honored to be in the room with such a great leader. I bought this book to follow up some of the things I heard him talk about. This book is on point. Very informative and concise.

Great Leadership Book
I was really surprised by the book. I started to read and I could not stop it. I had to put aside a book that was already reading to get inside Powell's Principles. Powell touches the core values that a true leader should bear and need to be concerned. Values that the big coorporations leaders have forgotten while focusing into burocreacy and how to satisfy solely their own management system. Forgetting about how to lead people.I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to perfect his leadership skills.

Good leader with practical observations over a brilliant career
Good leader with practical observations over a brilliant career. Reintroducing him to a younger generation that did not have the opportunity to work for him.

Insightful
Information that is easy to understand, yet requires effort to put into practice. If every leader where to implement just a couple of his thoughts the impact on their organization would be huge.

I cannot recommend The Powell Principles: too short and the best lesson is missing.
The booklet is short: 50 pages and you will finish it within an hour. It is not endorsed or authorized by the late Colin Powell. Sadly, one of the strongest quotes from Colin Powell is missing: "The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them."I use this quote as a bench mark for leaders in the organizations where I work but also to rate myself and I wish it would have been included in this booklet as it's one of the best indicators whether you are leading or just managing. There is general wisdom from the late Colin Powell and while it's great to read I wish there was more substance like using narratives and more examples. I would consider it more as a companion to a leadership training where examples and exercises are shared (but none are in the book). The book does mention the difference: "management is easy. Leadership is motivating people, turning people on, getting 110% out of a personal relationship. (p. ix)". Learning technical skills is something most people can do, but being able to work with people on different levels is more challenging. Why not explore this much further? Leaders will just read the booklet and realize "yeah that all makes sense". The people that want to improve their leadership skills will be left with: “OK, I need to improve but how?”.You are probably better off reading one of Colin Powell's own books like “My American Journey” or “It Worked for Me: In Life and Leadership Paperback”.
