Perfect for Sweet Breads & Long Slender Loaves of Yeast Bread;German-Made; Hand Wash or Line w/ Parchment to Maintain Appearance
The "Zenker Tin Plated Steel Loaf Pan, 12-Inch x 4.4-Inch x 2.8-Inch" is the perfect size bread pan for sweet breads and for making Italian breads like my grandmother did. Her bread pans looked almost exactly like this - and they were also made from tin. Breads bake evenly and the pan allows for a uniform distribution of heat.Because the pan is tin plated steel, you should either wash it by hand and allow it to drain and air-dry before storing or you should line it completely with parchment paper. I recommend the latter since the corners of the pan are seamed and quick bread batters are difficult to remove from the crevices. If you do choose to hand wash the pan, tilt it during the drying time so that water will drain from the corner folds. If you do choose to put this pan in the dishwasher, it will become dull and "rough".I liked that the "Zenker Tin Plated Steel Loaf Pan, 12-Inch x 4.4-Inch x 2.8-Inch" was made in Germany since I prefer not to purchase items in which food is prepared that are made in China. I liked the price which was reasonable for this size bread pan. If you need a longer, slender loaf pan, you will not regret purchasing this one.

The Value is amazing
Material: Tin plated steel (not aluminum, aluminum-clad, PTFE coated, Silicone Coated or stainless)Size: Not traditional, longer and skinnier, but functional.Prep: I just grease as directed.Baking: Heat is moderate so my bread doesn't get so dark---a good thing for some, but not all bread. Some bread may like a few more degrees compared to a dark pan. The more slender size reduces baking time. Check the temp periodically until you get used to it. I usually pull them at 195 F.Sticking: Nil. Pull from oven, wait 5 minutes then turn-out. Loaves usually just roll right out, some need a couple taps.Scraping: With milk or egg wash this may be needed. If it must be done, a plastic spatula or plastic scraper will do (Never metal!).Washing: Hot water and sponge is all that has been needed. I'm in the no-soap camp for these due to the folded construction.Rust: No rust, but I was taught never to leave to tinware to dry slowly, always accelerate drying in a low, or cooling, oven.Safety: Sheared corners are a bit sharp, but hey, it's old skool tinware, and nothing a few seconds the the kitchen whetstone can't smooth.Social/Environmental: Not made in ChinaPossible Improvements: 1) Use and care instructions. 2) Hit the corners with a stone. 3) Include a congratulation and thank-you. 4) A short intro/history including details on a few similar wares.

Works better than non-stick loaf pan
I make sweet bread and cakes a few times a week in various shapes and forms. I purchased one Zenker Tin Plated loaf pan, liked it so much that I purchased three more. This is how I use these. For bread and cake alike, I spray Pam on all loaf pans. The bread never stick. The cake sticked slightly once after the oldest Zenker pan went through around 80 uses. I wish I can say the same about my other very expensive non-stick loaf pans. For bread and pound cake, I also much prefer the straight edge than the rounder non-stick loaf pans. The 10-inch loaf pan is a great size for my mid-size oven. For those who're used to 12 inch pans, a 2-cup loaf is a bit much for this 10-inch pan if the loaf is high rising. When dividing 2-cup into two 10-inch loaf, each loaf seems a little low. For each recipe, I always try it once in order to finalize the right weight for this pan. Also like the previous review stated, the loaf comes out a bit light on tin-plated pans. I sometimes place these on the lower shelf if a darker crust is desired. Nowadays, the only time I use my non-stick loaf pan is when I want a really dark cake crust because that's harder to achieve with the tin plated pan.The Zenker loaf pan bakes better, are easier to use, last longer, and are cheaper. What can I say other than 5 star!

German pan doesn’t seem too sturdy
I used this product to make a Konigskuchen. It just didn’t seem too study and weighted enough to evenly heat the cake during cooking time.

Can't wait to try it!
I look forward to trying it because I like making different kinds of cake loaves. I was disappointed because it came with a bend on the edge but didn't want to return it because when I bought it I was told it was the last one.

It RUSTS!
I bought this item for its lower price and versatility. However, after only ONE wash, it quickly accumulated rust spots on the inside and the outside. Clearly, this is not an item of quality.I do NOT recommend buying it. Pay more for something higher quality!

Can't believe the price of this pan!
I bought this pan because I was thinking "what the heck do I have to loose for 3 dollars?". So I've baked with it 3 times and my bread hasn't stuck. My other bread pan with a nonstick coating actually make the bread stick a little bit while this pan came out completely clean. I've baking it with a spray of oil and with a greasing it with Crisco, I did the same exact thing with my other pans and this one worked better. Knowing that there aren't any chemicals from the nonstick coating is a plus. And why does it matter to have non stick when without works better? The size is a little small but only by about half an inch than I'm used to. I'm sold I'm buying 2 more.

Util, no derrama

study, very good shape
I like it for it's shape. Great for the bread dough I buy frozen, let rise and then bake. Study material. have to scrub a bit if anything bakes onto it, but nothing extreme.
