Beautiful stone
This stone has great feel and the large width is really nice for long finishing strokes. The 3000 grit put an incredible edge on my santoku, can't imagine needing a higher grit unless you're sharpening a straight razor.. It is quite hard and could benefit from including a nagura stone but luckily I have one. It was not absolutely 100% flat, but definitely flat enough for use. Overall I was skeptical of this brand since I couldn't find any YouTube demos or even a company website but it seems to be of great quality.

Worth it, smart purchase
As expected. Good value.

Very hard wearing
Having to flatten less often is more suitable for woodwork like I said it’s very hard

Ok stone
This is not the fastest stone, well comparing it with my other 3k stones (Naniwa Chosera and Suehiro Ouka 3k). It’s not a dense stone, it’s fairly light, I didn’t feel like it dished to quick but it was easy to lap. Feels like a hard stone because it doesn’t slurry allot but the weight makes you think it’s soft. The instructions say that it’s a soaking stone but it’ll hold the water well without soaking (it’s really a splash and go). What turned me off on this stone was the price, it’s a ok stone I would of kept it if it was a under $40 stone, I just can’t justify it’s price comparing it to the Suehiro Ouka 3k, Cerax 3k and the Shapton glass 3k which I’ve used or owned and are slightly higher in price, but not by much. I think your better off buying any of the other stones mentioned.I sharpen knives but I actually sharpen tool blades (plane irons, chisels, ext) as a business. Just to give you a reference on what I’m using these stone for.

Moldy!
The first one that I got the 3000 and 8000 grit were great but the second one that I got the 1000 and 6000 grip had mildew on them and it smelled very moldy as well as there were some chips along the side of them and they also has quite a bit of chips on the side of the stone as well, for some reason.

cant decide
This line may be good for knife sharpening but I have questions for tools. I was getting started with woodworking and needed a middle stone to go to after my 1000 grit Shapton. The 3000 came highly recommended by a knife shop and they were very critical of Shaptons..so I tried this one. First it seems to take a long soaking to get it going...very long. If you try to use it too early it will load up with swarth and not do anything. I am now very familiar with many sharpening stones and have had great results with the Chosera 3000 and even the Shapton 3000 as well as the Sigma 3000. With that said I will re visit the Ohishi 3000 just to give it an educated try. This stone does have a very nice creamy grape color however. My first impression was this stone leaves a nice shiny polish. It didnt take away the scratches as I had hoped it would. Ater comparing it with other 3000 grit stones which leave a ''clear surface'' I confirmed thqt this Ohishi 3000 is not effective. I may be better as polish stone ...something like a higher grit finish stone.
