Excellent stain pad that saved me a lot of time
This pad saved me several hours of work and I love it. I still had to use another means to stain my guard rails, which I stained before staining the floor surface of my deck, but after having spent 2 days doing all of the rails it was a refreshing improvement to use this pad on the decking itself. After the work on the rails, I was expecting to have a spend a couple of days on the decking as well but using this 1 pad I was able to stain the entire floor surface within a couple of hours. It was fast, easy, and didn't leave unpleasant drips all over the place because of its smooth application. Toward the end of the job the foam pad was beginning to crumble apart at the outside edges but some of this I know is my fault because I was using it to stain a very old deck which had some splinters and rough patches that I didn't completely sand away before staining. I don't blame this product for beginning to break down as a result of my abuse and am very pleased with how it all turned out.

Great product
Worked well for staining a 20X10 ft deck. Coverage was very good. I was even able to put the product in a plastic bag for a week and finish my deck after that time without a problem. It had stiffened somewhat but was still very usable, and completed the deck with no issues. Others have said it leaves back fibers on the wood; don't know, don't much care, it's a friggin deck. At one point the pad came loose from the handle and fell off, could have been user error, not sure. I was able to reattach it and continue on, but I did notice there is a definite limit to how tightly it can be fastened before the nut slips and is loose again. Could just be me tightening it too much, or perhaps my unit is going bad. Deduct one star for the plastic not being sturdier.

This is faster than using a roller
I stained my deck and boat dock recently with Thompson's Water Seal and at first I used a lambs wool 3/4" nap roller. It was messy and dripped from pan to deck. I wore it out after doing 2 large decks and then switched to this Cabot Stain Pad. The difference is like night & day. No dripping from pan to wood plank, and it also fit better on the planks. Some of my decks were built almost 20 years ago and starting to not be even across. This Cabot pad worked out much better and I got the remainder of the job done in a shorter amount of time.

Beware - Sheds fibres (not 1 or 2 but hundreds) on 2nd application 24 hrs later
Having spend a lot of time and $ researching before deciding on Unfinished Walnut Butcher Block countertop and Waterlox stain, I ensured I spent the additional $ to purchase what I thought were the best stain applicator pads.Initial coat went on as easily as one could ever hope for and very happy, for 24 hours. Even though I kept the pad in a sealed ziploc when I applied second coat it left hundreds of little hairs all over. I will now have to sand everything back down and start again and throw away the extra replacement pads I had also purchased. IF they are 1 time use then SAY SO and I can make the decision but don't ruin the project and cause me more time and aggravation.

Very good.
Worked better than expected. Great time saver and better than a brush. Used with Ready Seal.

It’s ok
Maybe I just didn’t know how to use this? It was ok. I found the disposable sponge brushes did the same job for a lesser price.

Broken
Pad holder thread came broken and eventually got to the point that I couldn’t attach it to the extension pole.Pad I had broke down and left shreds in the stain to the point I had to stop using it and use a brush. Not happy
