I wanted to like the rod. It has a great feel and the action is perfect for what I wanted to go after. However the length just seemed to be too long for the tight rivers and streams I visit. I would get the mini version of this but the price was astronomical for a tenkara rod. I ended up returning this rod and picked up the Sierra from the same rod company, it’s perfect.

Tenkara is super fun, takes fly fishing to a simple fun level, go catch some fish! Tenkara Rod Co. Gets a special shout out for customer service as I broke my sawtooth rod falling off a creekside boulder and they quickly got me the replacement section at no cost! Thinking about buying a second rod for back-up in case something like that happens again.

I've had one outing with it so far, so I can't speak to durability, but I caught three fish on that outing ranging fro 6" to 14" and it handled them well. It takes a bit to get used to the range and casting stroke, but it was a lot of fun and it's really handy to collapse the rod down while hiking from spot to spot.

This was nice but the other rods would have been a better buy for me personally. Great product though and will buy another one but a step up from the Sawtooth

Same as several other users...After first use broke 2 sections (they were stuck) while telescoping. Warranty did not cover it. Bit disappointed with the product quality and lack of replacement program. Tenkara Rod Co has a 'REPAIR SERVICE FORM' but I'm not sure what it is for since they do not replace broken tips/sections if you break it under normal use.Responce from CS: "Unfortunately collapsing is not covered under our warranty. You can order those sections on our website...."

Just getting back into fly fishing and bought this on a whim. Love the simplicity of set up. It will be perfect for backpack trips. Well built.

Great Tenkara rod that comes with everything you need to get started

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet -- still too cold for the likes of me -- but I'm looking forward to it soon.
