Works well for my purpose....
I purchased this safe to store a few frequently worn jewelry pieces. It arrived today. The size is about right for what I want to store but I'll be looking for some kind of shelf to set in there plus adhesive-backed hooks that I can attach on the inside of the door and across the back. It is true that the instructions and keys were inside of a plastic bag and hanging halfway through the locked door. I worked the bag to the left and was able to pull in out before the door was opened. The front panel seems to be plastic and not very sturdy. I had a difficult time prying the plastic cover off of the key area with my tiny screw driver but managed to only scratch and not break the darn thing. I eventually worked that cover loose from the left-hand side and then the top and and it popped off. In order to get the safe's door open I had to turn the door handle/knob at the same time that I worked the key. Once I got the plastic cover off of the battery compartment and installed the (included) four batteries, entering my code was easy, and opening and shutting the safe after that worked perfectly. The door does rattle--as others have mentioned--and I will try adjusting it as suggested by another reviewer. Bottom line for me is that this is a decent item for the price. This was a purchase through Amazon Prime membership and the safe arrived in two days, in perfect condition. Thank you to other reviewers who helped me decide to purchase this item, and thank you to Amazon for providing this service.

A safe that works
The safe is sturdy and heavy. There is plenty of room to store valuables, guns, or important papers. It comes with the hardware to bolt down the safe which makes it difficult for someone to just pick up and carry off. You have a choice of a key or digital pad to unlock the safe. There are reports out there that says it is easy to open the safe by hitting it but if you strategically place the safe where it is limited access to hit the safe it makes it even more secure. For me it works. My firearms are safe so are my valuables and I even tested it to see if it was easy to open when put in a compact space and it did not come open not matter how much I hit or pulled at it the front of the safe. The keypad beeps loudly which makes it noticeable if someone is trying to access it. I think of it as an additional safeguard instead of an annoyance.

So far, So Safe...
I gave this safe only four stars because the door has a bit of a loose fit - while it is recessed and pry-resistant, it rattles when closed and locked. I took care of this by gluing some foam in the jam to keep it from rattling. The front panel, (the silver part in the picture), has a rough "plasticky" feel. I'm not going to see how easy it is to drill through or otherwise get at whatever is behind the panel, but just thought I'd add that bit. The key cover has to be pried off, (if you don't have fingernails), using a small screwdriver or knife.Being able to bolt the unit to something is great - 1/4" bolt holes are located on the backside for mounting on a wall, and on the bottom for mounting to the floor. The anchors supplied are concrete anchors, so for home use you may want to pick up some lag bolts for mounting instead.

ok
it's ok priced. Thin material. it comes with holes drilled into the bottom and back to have you bold it down. I doubt it's fire proof. the buttons make a loud beeping noise that can be heard throughout the house when you enter the key code, which is good, it lets you know when someone is trying to access your safe. it's a good little safe for smaller, not so important items.

Works fine for storing ammunition
I'm using it for storing ammunition. It works fine for that. I would not use this for guns or real valuable items. I have another one I bought elsewhere a few years back and it looks exactly the same but the first one is easily twice the thickness. A much more solid safe. If you know where the locking mechanisms are inside, it is easily picked open through a hole behind the plastic faceplate. . So in my opinion it's fine for basic items. If you need real security spend a little more on something different.

Heavy duty ?
It is just Ok for this price, not a very good quality compare to stack on pds-500 drawer safe that i just buy three for my sons. Thanks to the amazon return policy, I may return this one and get a stack on pds-514.FYI: youtube has lot of videos show you how to easy crack this kind of safe, even with a paper clip.

Great safe for the price
I see a lot of reviews for this safe saying how it comes locked and the lock doesn't hold, well I see where they're coming from, but that's not at all accurate. The paperwork is indeed locked halfway in the door, but the keys are in a bag hanging out...use them to open it. And the lock not holding is not a design flaw, but a manufacturing oversight, if you remove the back of the door you can see the locking mechanism. The solenoid that pushes the pin in place to lock the safe is set too low and doesn't always catch when the knob is pushed upwards then turned. Simple fix, loosen the 4 screws on the solenoid bracket, the holes are actually slots, slide it up 2-3mm and like magic, it works perfectly. Actually almost everything back there is adjustable to make it all fit together tighter and not rattle. A little elbow grease never killed anyone, put some effort into it people, its a great deal for a safe this size, so what if you need to reset a couple screws, totally worth it.

Ok, seems safe enough.
One issue, instructions were locked in the safe, which told me how to open it. Had to find the panel and open it without knowing if I was going to break it or not.Safe is not safe enough for valuables. It has 4 holes in the back for lag bolts. Unfortunately, only 2 can be placed into a stud, since studs are normally 16 inches apart, which is wider than the safe. So, if anyone want to steal your stuff, just let them take the safe home with them and figure out how to open it at their leisure. It doesn't appear easy to pry open. I'd guess that it could be, but that would be a lot of work.Key pad requires a four digit code. 3 numbers then A or B to open. Actually A or B, not programmable for A and not B. Instructions indicated you could use more numbers if you wanted.Overall, for what I purchased it for, it is good and useful. Not the worlds safest safe, but good enough to keep wandering eye away from stuff.
