Muela Colibri Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife, 155 mm, Stag Handle, Brass Bolster, Pins and Lanyard Hole

Muela (Spain) has been a somewhat overlooked in the U.S. as a manufacturer of quality knives. This is unfortunate, since the craftsmanship and design of this knife is as close to 'perfect' as I could wish for - a real functional 3" blade, meticulously ground, and shaving sharp out of the box. The stag handles are nicely proportioned for a three finger grip, and the slabs are beautifully matched.I have previously owned a Colibri with wood handles (purchased some 25 yrs ago) and even though I thought the the knife was well designed and functional, the wood scales were quite a bit thinner than these stag handles. The earlier Colibri had a flat ground blade; this knife blade is a bit thicker, and hollow ground. It feels larger in the hand than one would expect.So when this blade went on sale at Amazon, I jumped on it, and am very glad I did. I prefer smaller blades for most work, and this pairs up very nicely with a Gransfors-Bruks Mini hatchet and a folding saw to do virtually anything I might want to do in the woods. (the GB Mini and a selection of bushcraft saws are both available on Amazon as well at very competitive prices).This knife is now an 'official' permanent part of my woods kit !!!
