Best investment ever
Paid for it's self with two uses. Just need to have patience to work through roots. I purchased a heavy duty 3HDB drain cleaner attachment which saws through root with a little back and forth action. Best investment ever.

Three Stars
some problem with the with the mechanical parts

the motor did not work
waited couple moths to use it for the first time and the motor was seized. No warranty. I know these things happen but I wish that I could give less than a one star because the company should consider shipping time and actually needing to use this product before warranty quickly goes

Of course it depends on how bad they are
I purchased one and in the manual it says the machine is not made for roots. I tried it and it was right if you have roots it won't clean them out. Of course it depends on how bad they are. For just cleaning out a drain with very small roots and sludge in pipes it's not a bad machine. Like anything you buy the tool has to be big enough for the job.

Well worth the money. A good, convenient investment
I considered getting the cheaper version (no wheels, manual feed), but am really glad I sprung for the extra bells and whistles. This item is heavy, so the wheels are necessary. The power feed is also nice for controlling the snake. I bought this because my mom's pipes had persistent roots, resulting in $150.00 plumbing fees every 6-8 weeks. I've used copper sulfate, foams, and other chemical treatments, but ultimately needed a "snaking" to clear things up. Although this item probably wouldn't manage serious roots, by carefully sequencing the various reamers (smaller to larger), I've been able to keep her pipes clear for months. This item is not difficult to use. My handyman extended the entire snake and spray painted stripes at 10 foot intervals and extra marks to show when I got close to either end. Really useful. He also saturated the coil with WD-40 to retard rust. I've used this multiple times and it has performed well. When it struggles with a patch of roots, I back it out a little and try again. Usually it can chew through the mess in 2 or 3 passes. It has paid for itself and I am happy to use this as a preventative and avoid using so many chemicals.*update*My original machine still works fabulously. I decided to buy a second one for home (I transported the used sewer snake in a warm enclosed vehicle for 3 hours and elected not to do that EVER AGAIN, ) My repeat purchase had to be returned 2 times. First for the snake was "coiled stupidly" from the factory. The second machine's power feed quit. The third machine works like a champ. My advice is to test it as soon as you get it home to make sure there are no technical difficulties.Be serious about preventative drain cleaning. My mom was a customer of AAA home insurance for 53 years. She had 2 water claims in five years (pre-snake purchase) and they dropped her. She is considered practically uninsurable in CA due to water claims. These things are easy to use, so schedule a regular cleaning. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to do the whole process thoroughly, including searching for the extension cord.

Low quality material
This machine is cheaply made.It came damaged. When I used it for the first time the clutter got broken in the drain. The next time I used it, the pumping wire got torn.I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews before buying. Its a total waste of money.I do NOT recommend this machine.
