What you have heard about the Sigva Phoenix sounding great - It's true
I really enjoy my Phoenix. They only arrived 6 days ago, I have about 30+ hours of listening time on them, the longest single listening session being @6 hours in duration. Some people find these too tight or too small for their head. I must have an average to small head/ears because the Phoenix happen to fit me pretty well right out of the box. I only adjusted the slider to about midway of the travel, and the clamp pressure feels good. They also sound great, highs are sparkly without sibilance, mids seem clear, and the bass... It is punchy, you can "feel" the sub-base without it overpowering or muddying up the rest. I am not an equipment or audio analyst so, I am not listening critically. I am a just a cat who really enjoys listening to music of all genre's - and the Phoenix do a great job with making listening to music fun, and why they are on the stand closest to me. I use my Phoenix connected to an Atom DAC/AMP stack so I do not know much about how easy they are easy to drive if connected directly to a phone or other non-amped source but, I think you would be OK because compared to other headphones I use, I do not have to turn past 9 o'clock on the Atom amp - where as on my X2HRs as an example, I need to turn the amp up to about 10:30/11 o'clock to obtain the same level.Tl:drA fun slightly darker leaning signature with great bass extension (not basshead), highs that don't hurt, vocals that are present but not in your face. Good looking, good build quality (even the cable is nice). Excellent value.

More comfortable and thick sounding dynamic ever made
This headphone is all about presentation, although he detail is still somewhat there. To me, these headphones have the dynamics of a $1000 headphone which make them sound really really enjoyable on EDM or anything electronic. However they don't exactly sound bad with rock, you will just sometimes realize the mids and highs have a little left on the table for detail retrieval. However the bass is probably the most realistic response on any open back headphone and they respond well to EQ.One of the most important things about these is that they are the most comfortable things I've ever worn on my head, and the $15 deeper pads helped. However I had to do a lot of bending the first week to get the headphones to be wider at the top. If the metal band was about an inch bigger and had 2 right angle bends at the corners, the fit would be able to accommodate every head size. What I have to do to get any seal is wear them on a very small setting, which has the drawback of having my ear lobes rest on the bottom of the inside of the pads. However this is still more comfortable than any other headphone I have tried with glasses, and can wear them for 6 hours with no hotspot. This might be because of the very light clamp or that the pads are made out of the softest foam there is. But they just should have stuffed more foam in the pad is the problem. This was fixed by stuffing tissue in the inside of the pad so that the pad would bottom out less.Another thing is that they are really in your face with an average soundstage and also average imaging. To me if these had a wider stage and pinpoint imaging, along with more details in the mids they would be perfect for under $1000. Also they are the easiest things to drive in history, you can go deaf from just a smartphone most of the time. The sound is very in your face but its never harsh. To my ears, the signature is completely flat even at full volume, maybe a slight bump at 2khz, but easily fixed. This in combination with a very smooth and thick presentation, means that you don't even have to listen at full volume to really be immersed in the sound. If you listen to EDM at all, or just like things that make crazy sounds I would say buy these 100% as long as you don't have a giant head.

Headband fitment issues.
The sound is phenomenal. Let's mention that first and foremost. Bass is on par, if not better than the Fostex X00's, except slightly less sub bass due to semi closed on the x00's which help extend it down deeper. However 40hz and up the two are very similar. Lithuania HQ Spotify playlist is fun with these.Vocals are perfect for me. Weighty and body filled male vocals with each breath and syllable at perfect presence. There's nothing lacking on vocals with these at all. It's rare when a headphone can get vocals to sound like speakers and these pretty much nailed it. Compared to my diy speakers called the Continuum's, which are similar to LS35/A's the vocals are very much smooth and present.Highs are stellar. No piercing or lack of detail what so ever. Compared to the DT1990 which I had to compare side by side, the highs aren't as high as the DT1990, however the dt1990 did not hurt my ears at all, unlike the DT990. It was just more welcoming on the Phoenix for extended periods of time.Soundstage is lacking. Moreso than the HD58x and HD600/650 I have which are pretty notorious for their small soundstage. They're decent for gaming. With a lack in soundstage, the imaging kind of suffers. I will randomly just pan my mouse around towards the object I hear in video games to see how close I can get the mouse over to the sound. Pretty bad test but it's my own personal test that I have a habit of doing with any headphone I use out of sheer random lol. There will be a rooster screaming it's lungs out of it's body and here I go just wanting to test how close I can get my sound to match L/R to center to the rooster and I noticed I had to move my mouse over slowly over and over until I found it. Same with other sounds in other games. I had to follow up to find or get center. Unlike the DT1990. I'll compare it to a cheaper headphone around the phoenix. Say the Fidelio X2. I could consistently get closer to the sounds and center it better and faster. It's hard to compare these to other headphones in it's price range because I kind of floated away from $200 price point headphones because they always lacked actual sound quality somehow. With the X00's and DT1990'sx, these are right up there at that price point for it's sound quality alone. The only thing those higher end headphones have over the phoenix is soundstage. Besides the Beyer's which are absolute robust units in build quality.Build quality on these are great. However both of my earpads never went back to staying in place after removing them to see if you can pad swap. The pads are glued onto the connecting rings which are much smaller in diameter compared to the holes of most aftermarket earpads. Though, you can take the pads off, and just use the wooden lip to grab the headphone if you wanted but it they may stretch out a little and become loose and spin around. You can use a little bit of glue or something to use on the male end of the stock earpad connecter so it stays in place when it goes into the female part of the headphone. If you just try to insert, and twist into place, there is no grip for it to stay in place and just easily spin off and out of the female end when you barely pick them back up.Another huge issue is where the yolk meets the earcup. The yolk can't go in further since the earcup lip that stops it is so thin. So if you do use thicker ear pads, the bottom of the pads will push outwards ear your earlobes, not creating a tight seal and more pressure onto your temple areas near the top of your ears. Even if you stretch the headband out and make the cups hang lower to compensate for this, the earcups can't even move inward from the bottom regardless. If the yolk part that screwed into the wooden cup was moved back a little more then that wouldn't be an issue or would help tremendously. The headband fit me fine and the earcups weren't too shallow but definitely need to be deeper for better comfort. I never got aches on my ears or anything which I'm fairly sensitive to. I have earpads on my ears or the inner driver part resting on my ear as it causes fatigue almost after 15 minutes. The DT1990 analytical pads were too hard for me and created pressure points on my temples and jaw and made me ache in those spots even with loosening the headband. Everyone's comfort varies so take my comfort issues with a grain of salt.Even with the inner driver slightly on my ear it never caused an issue or pain, which the HD600's have done to me and they barely even touch my left ear on the inner part. These phoenix's however just don't hurt one bit. They're simply just awesome headphones, perfect in sound quality to me.However the lack of soundstage in gaming killed the fun.

Five star headphones if you want a balanced sound.
Sometimes music can sound boring with neutral headphones. In those situations the Phoenix are perfect. They have a balanced sound that is fun and exciting without being tiring. I have found them to be very comfortable to wear too, but if you have a big head I would look elsewhere. It's hard to describe the sound here. I would watch the 'No Theme Reviews' review on YouTube for a lengthy description, if you want to know more. I have found him to be very honest in his reviews.

Greatest sub 300 Headphone. PERIOD.
Best headphone under 300 that you can get. These made me sell everything I had before or bought after. Sennheiser HD600, HD58x, Meze 99, ATH MSR7, Fidelio X2, HD660S don't stand a chance against these.Punchy bass but not overwhelming other frequencies and a lot of detail on the bass. Voices a little bit recessed but nothing bad cause there's a lot of definition in the vocals. Treble has a lot of detail aswell. Imaging and detail is EXCELLENT, soundstage not big but not small either. In general a warm, enjoyable and fun headphone while being detailed and not fatiguing.Confort in the beginning is not the best but once it loosen up it's perfect and you'll barely feel it. Build quality is also great and the cable is soft.Absolutely recommended!!
