God’s Grace covers our flawed character.
I love how each one of these books dives deeper into a character’s life which opens so many areas of weakness. Then we watch how God works in his life and we see growth. I also love learned about basic life in that era.

Blessings From These Daughters
OK, Sophie is a bit of a willful brat, but the story is excellent and her growth is believable. Her maturing gives hope to my heart (as the mother of four daughters) and is rapid enough to not try my patience too far. I love the spiritual growth that Snelling's characters undergo - it is just what I need at this season of my life. I feel so blessed that these books exist just when I most need them to keep my mind imagining ways that other people can praise God through their trials so I can praise God through mine. This book gives you a glimpse into the world of turn-of-the-century North Dakota and Seattle, Washington, plus the way Norwegian immigrants adapted to their new lives in the Dakotas. Sophie has some real dilemmas and grows up a lot. If you already read the series you see new sides to familiar characters and do a little traveling. This book is a strong part of the series and should not be missed.

Very Good Book
This was a very good read. Although not as good as the original "Red River of the North" series it still tells a great story and includes many of the same characters in the original books. It is better than most books of its kind. I do think the Red River series should be read before reading these spin off books so that the background of the saga is known. Loraine Snelling has become one of my favorite writers. It's no wonder she has won several awards. I've given it five stars because it is so good. The original series is better and those books should have more that five stars if that were possible. They are all very good. All these books in this saga are so much better that many books I've read that it is hard to give them a good enough review. So I just say start at the beginning of the series with "A Untamed Land" and read all of them. You won't be disappointed.

I really enjoy this series.
The only reason I gave a 4, instead of a 5 is because there were several instances where the phraseology was out of sequence. I think the typist must have been sleepy. He/she needed a heavy dose (or several) of Ingeborg' s high-octane coffee. The story was of a headstrong young woman who, through trials, grief and life in general, came to understand her family's extraordinary faith in God as something to work toward rather than an inheritance handed down like blue eyes.
