This telescopic fishing rod and reel are amazing! I bought this for my 9 year old bonus sons birthday. He was so excited when he opened this. He expanded the rod and his dad attached the reel, which was very easy to do. Dad and son both tried spinning the reel to check the ease of the bearings. It’s a very nice flowing reel, very impressive!! It can withstand a 12 lb. line. It’s very light weight. It’s sooo nice and compact, it has a nice lil cover for the tip and a band to keep it compact while traveling. I will probably be buying at least 2 more of these for presents! Shhhhh!! Lol

I fish both saltwater and freshwater and was looking for an excellent travel rod and reel combo that I could keep in the car that would not break the bank. This affordable combo fit the bill perfectly. I already have a Plusinno BE4000 and use it surf fishing and have caught a 20+ lb stingray and many other fish and love it. The drag on the BE4000 is smooth and more than adequate, and the reel is incredibly smooth. It's a great lightweight rig on a 7ft medium-heavy rod.This reel is just as smooth and a joy to fish as the BE4000 just a bit smaller. It has a decent drag and a surprisingly smooth retrieve. I primarily use this combo for freshwater pond fishing, and it does not disappoint. It is also great for catching whiting and pompano at the beach.The 7.87ft rod is excellent in getting lures out far and sufficiently handles largemouth bass without overpowering them. Not sure about bigger catfish, but for bass and bluegill – it works great! It is fun to fish, and as I always have it with me. With this always on hand, I simply fish more! I see a pond and I can get a few casts in. This is great when you have a few minutes to fish. This handy compact, telescopic rig fits easily in a small suitcase, bag, or under/behind your seat. You can also easily take it with you while riding a bike. It's a great option when lugging a bulky rod is not practical.I'd say it's definitely worth the money and I would buy again and may get another to have in each car. If you ever drive by a pond and wish you had a reel to get in a few quick casts, this is the ticket.Have fun, fish more, and live a little! Stay safe!

Overall its a decent product for casual use. I see that its a bit cheaper than when I originally purchased so its probably more worth it now. This is a great product if you're looking for a collapsable rod that you can place into your backpack and bring out casually for trips. Also a great rod for kids or introducing fishing to new individuals. This is not a great solution if you're looking for something collapsable to replace your current regular set up. I was able to catch a fish on the reel, but it feels like a toy compared to my standard ones and is nowhere near as smooth. It's also starting to show some wear even after a few uses.After traveling with in my backpack, one of the eyes started to bend and broke off even when using the tip protector that was provided. The material connecting the eyes to the rod is very thin and ends easily. Luckily Plusinno offers great customer service and were very responsive and ended up sending me a replacement for the rod. Which I still carry with me but wrap the end of the rod with an extra layer of protection.If you're looking for a collapsable rod you can carry with you on trips to fish spontaneously, this rod will work. I recommended swapping the reel if you want to upgrade this collapsable rod.

I bought this for my son for his birthday. He loves that he can keep it in his truck, but it takes up so little room. It extends out easily, and casts smoothly.

It’s actually a really nice rod and reel. Better than I anticipated until I broke a guide ring, while lining the reel. Apparently too much pressure on the ring from line was enough to bend and snap it. Am I mad, nah they were kinda flimsy and I have a repair kit on hand. Just treat it with a bit more care then you would a more expensive set. Not worth the hassle of returning so I’ll make it work.Edit: ended up returning. Must have been a defective pole in general because it would not stay extended during use. I’d pull it tight and it would still slide after a few casts. Hopeful the replacement is a better batch.

I can’t say enough good things about these rods/reel combos!! I do a TON of back country camping…these rod/reel combos have been a lifesaver! The are so compact and light weight! I’ve tried others that have snapped like twigs on monster bass and northern…Not these!! I bought 1 a few years back, it was the only one that survived, so I bought 2 more, then another 2…and now I’ve started buying them for my kids! They love them!! They carry easily in/on a backpack or strapped on to a bike! these have allowed us to get to some very deep woods, back lakes, without all the hassle, and all the confidence that they will hold up to massive fish! 40” Northern Pike, absolute hog bass, hard hitting musky…and have bagged plenty of 25”+ walleye on the big water! Trolling on the boat has never been an issue either! They really do live up to the job! Good quality rods and will always recommend em. (Got 2 in a fishing hiking/‘go bag’…have 3 on the boat for backups or ride alongs who don’t have a rod!).If you have a kid who loves to fish, but they gotta ride a bike there…this is a must! Get em a decent backpack and one or two of these (got two for one of my boys and rigged it for panfish, and the other for crank baits/spinners…he slays em!) they can ride easily without having to worry about trees, shrubs, people and other bikers!

Arrived quickly and as expected but haven't been fishing with it yet..

The Ad is misleading. It leads you to believe that you are receiving theentire combo as per the primary photo when in fact you are receivingonly the rod and reel. If I had known this was the case, I would have bought it cheaperdirectly from the Plussino website.

Order placed late November and arrived promptly. I was pretty excited as most reviews seemed to say it was okay, and my son is really getting into fishing. He keeps taking my gear! So I thought a nice christmas present.On taking out of the box, the reel is very plasticky...this is fine as really you cant expect miracles for the price. Hard to tell if the rod would last a medium heavy fish.BUT, on arrival the line guides are bent (see pic). Not sure how long these will last under some pressure. So without ever using it, its still sitting in the box, back it goes. No rod and reel for xmas as I would reckon my chances of a return and refund promptly limited.Shouldve gone for the next level. Will update when a resolution comes. Disappointed.Edit: January 3. No word from plussino.
