Do NOT use the templates
The numbers look goos, but the pegs are very poor quality. Of the nine pegs (I bought three numbers) three of them had a noticeable bend. The bend isn't a huge deal, since nobody is going to look at the pegs, but it does mean that you can't use the template. That's right - don't use the template!1. First attach the pegs to the numbers (no need to tighten much, as you'll likely break them).2. The use lipstick or something to mark the pegs. My wife wouldn't let me use her lipstick, so I used Nutella!3. Carefully align the pegs on either the template, or if you know exactly where you want it, right onto the wall. I marked the templated, then taped them to the wall.4. Now use a center punch on the lipstick or Nutella marks to create a starter hole in the wall.5. Double check that the pegs align with the center punch holes.6. Drill the holes.7. Finally ensure that the numbers fit in the wall without any effort. You cannot break a peg on this step - if it doesn't enter without effort your holes are not aligned.8. Remove the numbers, fill the holes with clear silicon and put the numbers back in place. Tape them there until the silicon dries.Hope this helps - good luck everyone!I've attached a few photos to reenforce my main point - do not use the templates!

The new, improved version is definitely improved
I've read a lot of reviews about these over the years and the consensus was that they were cheap and the mounting bolts were crooked and the instructions were bad. This review is written 11/2020 and I can reassure people that those issues are no longer a problem.I ordered 4 numbers...each of them were solidly made, the mounting bolts screwed in easily (do it by hand, of course) and the installation was fairly easy.Go by the instructions in terms of how to install. Earlier reviews said to ignore those instructions but they are more substantial now and the size of the drill bit you need to use is 100% accurate (earlier versions had smaller bolts and said to use 1/8" bit...only use that if you want to drill pilot holes). The proper size of drill bit to use is 5/16" Wiggle it around a bit as you go in and out to give yourself a little room. the 5/16" bit drills a hole that is SNUG but that's what you want with these. I didn't even have to use any kind of adhesive gel/silicone to keep them in.STILL DO NOT USE THE HOLES MARKED ON THE TEMPLATE. As others have suggested, place your number over the template (bolts down on the paper) and mark where those bolts hit with a marker or pen. That way, you know exactly where those bolts will hit for the drill holes.Tape up your templates with a level and ruler so they are even and straight, then use your punch to hammer in the marks where your bolts hit on the template. Give it a good pop for each one and then take the numbers down.Drill your holes and give it a little action as the drill goes in and as it goes out. You'll find that the fit is still tight but accurate. At that point, I went from one number to the next, just getting the bolts in place with the holes and then tapped them each in by putting a cloth over each number and using a rubber mallet to tap each bolt area of each number.Voila. Quick and easy and accurate. Took me about 15 minutes to install 4 numbers and again, I didn't need to use any epoxy or silicone to keep them in. They're snug and solid (I installed into wood so if you're going into masonry or brick, make sure you're using a masonry bit. The rubber mallet is the secret weapon here...you can get some pressure on the installation process without damaging the numbers or bending them. Just be sure to cover them with a wash cloth or something so you don't leave any marks.Overall very happy with these and the process itself. Even a novice could do it. Just take your time marking the templates with the bolts, take your time getting the templates level and the numbers spaced properly and you'll be good to go.

Are these made of Papier-Mache? JUNK. 6 of 15 screws snapped in half. Template mis-aligned.
This is right up there in quality with Target-brand floating shelves, which is to say made with zero engineering expertise, clearly never field tested, and with the tensile strength of a graham cracker.Per instructions, did a "test fit," which resulted in multiple screws snapping off IN THE HOLES in the side of my house. Out of 15 screws, only 9 survived the installation. See pics.Furthermore the template, meant for alignment, is misaligned. When I aligned the templates, the "2" was significantly lower than the other 4 numbers, which seems to defeat the purpose of an alignment template?Ended up gluing the whole mess to the side of my house with unhealthy quantities of silicone, since any other alternative (including trying better numbers) would have left unsightly holes in the side of my house filled with broken-off screws. You're better off to draw the numbers on your house in jumbo crayon.

Screw in bolts by hand & drill with 1/8 drill bit
Read a bunch of reviews on these numbers before installing. They’re a little complicated but so affordable and look really nice. The first thing I did was screw the bolts into the back of the numbers, BY HAND. I screwed them in till just tight. I didn’t want to overtighten and have the bolt break. Then, I laid the numbers over top of the number templates, and marked new holes. They don’t line up perfectly because the screws aren’t straight. Next, tape the numbers together so they’re spaced perfectly. Tape to spot where you want the numbers to go. Poke holes in each marked spot on the templates. Drill 1/8 drill bit hole NOT the 1/4” they recommend. Gently push the numbers into their respective drilled holes. The 1/4 hole will be too large, 1/8, makes it perfectly snug so we didn’t need glue/caulk. Numbers went in with gentle force and none of the screws broke for me.Good Luck!

It's a quality door number
Wanted something different from the selection at well known DIY stores, the quality is excellent and the floating aspect means the shadow cast helps highlight the house number

Love them, glad I read the reviews!
Just installed these tonight and it was a breeze! The instructions say to use a 1/4” bit, this was far too big, try one size smaller. After reading the reviews I decided to only finger tighten posts to the numbers, after all they won’t be spinning once glued/siliconed into place. The posts are very poor quality and I’m sure I would’ve broken them, like many others, had I tried to tighten further.I felt the spacers were a bit too long for my liking so I sunk them in about half way. Instead of silicon I used lepage’s ‘no more nails’ general purpose construction adhesive. All said and done, I am very pleased with the look. They appear like the custom steel numbers sold at the specialty stores for a fraction of the price.

The number itself is great, solid metal
The number itself is great, solid metal, no issues so far. Looks greatThe mounting hardware however, like many people have already said, if you want the number to 'float' the cheap screws break very easily. I didn't even realize, and I had already broken 2/3 of the mounting screws. Thankfully some PL construction glue helped me out. But really, these numbers should come with at least some decent hardware, not some cheap plastic crap that breaks so easily
