a great cost-savings alternative
This is a game changer product for me. I have looked for an option to make my cruising experience more comfortable. A full-priced Mustang seat with driver backrest was not in my price range. I was already using a Mustang seat and only needed to add a backrest. This product fit the bill perfectly. A sturdy, comfortable, adjustable backrest that matches the studs on my driver seat.Well worth the reasonable price!

Makes a huge difference on long rides.
So glad I found this product. It makes a huge difference when I'm riding my 2006 Heritage Softail. I can finally ride long distances without my back hurting. Well worth the $75 price and works just as good as a $600 Mustang seat.

you can do better
A little to flimsy and the pad is too soft. Needs more firmness against the back. I leaned back and it would have folded over if the back seat didn't stop it. The adjustment instructions are "put a piece of electrical tape on the bracket tab until firm in the slot" Really???? That's about as cheesy as it gets

This backrest works as good as any!
Finding a backrest for a 2003 Fatboy is not an easy task. This one is priced right and does the job. If you don't need to remove it often apply one simple piece of tape to just one side where it slides into the bracket on the bike and it will keep the backrest from sliding unintentionally forward and aft. If you need to remove it often, don't apply the piece of tape. Keeps a passenger from sliding forward on the seat over unexpected bump's also. Glad I ordered it. As far as installing it, I would think any backrest that mounts on the split seat would be the same as this one. I used a can of soup to lay the seat on upside down in order to apply the pressure needed to compress the outer edges of the seat that the mounting bracket goes in between. Install the original seat bolts through the bracket and close the gap. Helps to have a torx screw driver to get the factory screws started, then tighten those with a ratchet. Reinstall the seat and enjoy.
