Promising so far... (With Updates!)
UPDATED 6/20/2016: I've finally gotten to test this against the lab. The drawn blood sample sent away for testing came back with a hemoglobin count of 10.8. The HemoGo test done by fingerprick at the exact same time showed 10.6. That could even just be the difference between blood drawn from my vein and blood from my finger. I'm fully satisfied with the accuracy of the HemoGo!I have recurring anemia issues and knowing my hemoglobin count helps decide whether I go to the doctor or the ER. Going to the doctor when it's too low takes as long as ten days to get results and help, while going to the ER when it's okay wastes everyone's time. There was no quick alternative so I've been watching the home testing kits for a few years now to see if the prices would go down and the quality go up. I think it finally has. This kit includes an easy-to-use meter, a vial of 10 test strips, a bottle of solution to test the meter's working properly, a lancing device (the thing that pricks your finger) and lances, all packed into a zippered black canvas storage case. The instructions are clearly written and easy to follow. The required blood sample size is moderate, not tiny, but not huge. The lancing device is adjustable so you can change the depth of the needle prick to get a better sample size.My only issue so far is with the lances. They've got a round "cover" on the tip of the needle that you're meant to replace for disposal. You'll need extremely good hand/eye coordination to do that because the hole is so tiny you can't see it. The cover doesn't click on so there's not really anything to keep it from coming back off. It wasn't until I had the used lancet in my hand that I realized that I had no idea how to dispose of it. I put it in an empty soda can and taped the lid shut with duct tape, but I know that wasn't the right way to do it. This isn't something you're likely to be doing every day so you aren't going to be generating a ton of needles to dispose of so a large disposal container wouldn't really work, either. I'm going to ask at my pharmacy to see what they suggest.Update 6/20/2016: For discarded lancets took one of my larger empty prescription bottles and labeled it well. It's worked quite well. The lancing device that came with the HemoGo never did work correctly. I've replaced it with the Bayer lancing device I found here on Amazon. It not only works better, but it's smaller and fits more neatly into the HemoGo's pouch.I was having considerable trouble getting a large enough blood drop. The phlebotomist from my doctor's office was kind enough to take fifteen minutes to work with me. I had completely misinterpreted the advice I had read online, so her help was really appreciated. I wish I had thought of asking for help before I had wasted so many test strips! Both the phlebotomist and my doctor are impressed and thrilled with the HemoGo. My doctor has long talked about wishing there was a good home meter for her anemic patients. She wrote down everything about mine so that she could recommend it to anyone who she feels could benefit from one.The HemoGo has made a big difference for me. Home testing means that I can catch a little problem when it's still at the "go eat a steak" phase, instead of having to wait until it's at the "go to the ER for transfusions" stage. This really has changed everything.

Not recommended at all the accuracy of the product is
Not recommended at all the accuracy of the product is. It even close to being correct my hemoglobin is 14.9 and upon several tests with this machine I never got more then 9. Tried different strips and other people in my family and it didn't work with them to. Tried the test liquid that was showing correct readings

Not as accurate as I'd hoped.
Had labs drawn at DR's office on 8/5HGB 9.7HCT 32.6Immediately after, I tested using this monitorHGB 10.8HCT 33As you can see, there is more than a 3% fluctuation in the accuracy. The monitor claims to have an accuracy rate of +/- 3%I'm disappointed it's not more accurate. I will update with additional lab results as I get them.

Hemogo is pretty useless at this level of accuracy
I have no idea how accurate this device is for measuring low hemoglobin and hematocrit but my experience is that it is not very accuate for high values. I have taken measurements using this device ranging from 15.8 to 17.6, often taking multiple tests using multiple test strips and multiple punctures for samples. When tested by a lab my actual hemoglobin was 15-30% higher! Hemogo is pretty useless at this level of accuracy. For the record, I have tried multiple stickers to draw the blood and I have tried the technique of wiping away the first drop of blood and using the second without squeezing the blood out. That certainly gives a better result but still not accurate.Perhaps this device is better for people with low hemoglobin and hematocrit.

Seems to work
Easy to use. I was afraid of the lance at first, but it's nearly painless. So far results have been consistent, but I haven't compared to actual lab results yet.

Good quality product
Easy to use, once you practice a few times. The reading is quick and comparable to my latest lab results. I also tested my child's hemoglobin and he didn't seem to mind the little poke on his finger. Good quality, arrived quickly. I wish it came with more test strips and lancets, but otherwise completely satisfied.UPDATE: 11/7/2016 - I took my son to the doctor for his annual physical. His hemoglobin tested at 12.3 at the doctor's office - it has tested at 12.3 - 12.5 the three times I've tested him with the HemoGo in the past two weeks. I'm happy with the accuracy of this product.

Why would I recommend this product to ANYONE?
First: I really appreciate how accurate this meter is and how inexpensive and convenient it makes consistent test. So WHY would I rate this product ONE star? Because the replacement test strips are no longer in stock! The test strips are proprietary, meaning: I cannot use the meter with ANYONE else's test strips. Therefore, I had to purchase a competitor's meter and test strips to continue testing my hemoglobin levels.I would really like to receive an apology AND an assurance that this will not occur again -- otherwise, why would I recommend this product to ANYONE?
