Service as Art, Science and Grace
One of the best overviews of the M/s or D/s relationships I have read, this book reminds both sides of the slash that service is an art to be appreciated. Those who choose to serve are no less a person, nor less valuable as human beings than those who are being served. As is pointed out in the book, all too often an air of supercilious elitism can cause the M-types to look down on or demean the very people who are offering themselves in service. This can cause friction at best, and do real harm at worst, destroying a relationship or the heart of a service oriented soul.M-types need to be aware of the responsibility that comes with the title, and accept both that burden and service offered to them with grace. s-types need, and was so delightfully pointed out, to remember the golden rule of service: if it isn't what the M-type wants/needs/asks for, no matter how beautifully conceived nor perfectly executed, it is not service. The checklists at the end are helpful, reading like a cross between a service resume and the wishbone for shopping for the perfect household manager. The ones discussing the characteristics of an M-type and s-type could seed many fruitful discussions in private or on a larger, community wide forum.Thank you, gentlemen, for putting so much of your years of insight and experience into this book. I for one am deeply grateful!

If it doesn't please Master/Service Top/Dom? It ain't service.
Into D's for five years in BDSM and now exploring M/s, I bought five books of how to's for Doms/Tops/Masters thinking I'd learn a thing or two about becoming a Master. Surprise. A book on service, Real Service was the most helpful.I always wondered how a friend of mine got his wife to ALWAYS have one cold beer in the fridge. He was a hard worker but his dad was a drunk. BUT, he was in a relationship (vanilla, or so called...still power exchange) where his partner-a fine and bright woman and mom-knew the Raven axiom: If it doesn't please Master, it isn't service. So simple. The first half of this book is full of insights like that. If you are into scene play, or a D/s kink relationship or ramping it up to M/s or just trying to avoid power pitfalls in an everyday, old-fashioned marriage? Get this book. And you just might get that one beer, nice and cold in the center of the fridge. Always. Because it pleases you. And she likes that.If you are not the least bit interested in M/s and only want to be better at scene play or even an egalitarian marriage, the first half of this book is STILL for you, as every relationship is about money, sex and power. Raven and joshua nail the power thing.

Great read
I am new to the lifestyle and I found this book well written and easy to read. This helped me to discover a little more about myself and understand more about the M/s relationship and my role as a slave. I highly recommend this book for a good understanding about service.

Good Read
I read this book from the perspective of a Master wondering if this was a good book to share with My slaves. I found it to be a great book and will be requiring them to read it. Thank you to both Raven and Joshua for the love, time, and energy they put into this book. It is an incredible service to the M/s community.

Real Service --- for Real People!
I ordered this book mostly out of curiosity but had some fairly heavy hesitations, not sure of what I might find because it has only been in publication perhaps a year (and I could not find many reviews on other sites). I also wasn't completely convinced it was referring to the flavor of service I was hoping for. What a lovely surprise!Having read many books, articles, and essays on this topic within service-based relationships over the years, I very much like the style that this duo has created as they seek to go deeper into motivational factors of offering service and receiving that service. This is definitely a good read, well worth your time and energy.Regards,MC

Really practical book on slave or servant attitude
This book won’t teach you how to cook or clean house, nor when to bow or kneel. But it’s the most practical down-to-earth guide for “s-types” (bondage slaves/servants and their masters/mistresses) I have ever read. Combine it with “Slavecraft” and read it before entering a power exchange relationship.

Excellent
I bought this book for myself to get a more detailed understanding of service orientated submission and practical ideas/suggestions. I really loved it.Well written and easy to read, there is a ‘Skillsets’ section, which is very useful and helped me to imagine many more possibilities of different types of service.A good buy and I will likely come back to it, to help me improve in my own service.
