Swad Jaggery - 1 lb

It's kind of odd writing a review for sugar but since ordering stuff like this on amazon always feels risky I wanted to take a moment to let folks know who are considering this that it's awesome.I need to start this review by saying I'm a white girl who loves exploring new cuisine and is mildly obsessed with Indian food. My experience with Jaggery up until now has been limited to eating dishes that contained some. I found a recipe for a beautiful stuffed fire roasted coconut (part of a south Indian tradition) that I wanted to try making for some friends so I had to order Jaggery. I expected something that would resemble a brick of hardened dark brown sugar but I was pleasantly surprised with this soft dome of sweetness. The texture is like a packed brown sugar and the only way I could really come up with to describe the flavor is that it's similar to a dark brown sugar or golden syrup but tastes infinitely more 'natural'....if that makes any sense at all. I didn't need to grate it rather than just break it up with my fingers. It's pretty cool stuff.The AADI THENGAI SUDUM PANDIGAI I made with it was phenomenal and I suggest everyone give it a go. As a lover of milk tea, this is also an incredible sweetener to make your black milk tea even more special. I will forever keep jaggery in my home now.**Some reviewers commented on the 'value'. I have no idea what the market value for a pound of jaggery goes for. A little goes A VERY long way (it's sweeter than sugar) and since I can't find this anywhere locally in the midwest where I live I'm happy to pay $13-14 for this purchase that was unquestionably fresh and will likely last me entire year.

This is wonderful jaggery, best I've yet tasted. Smooth and creamy in the mouth and no sourness at all.Update: I did finally get a batch with some sourness, the first in the dozen or so that I've bought.

Pictures are big size online and when revived product very small size $ 30 for two item without online price in store this item price $ 4:00 so look at this how much differences I never buy online grocery very bad experience. And quality poor.

The quality of this jaggery is decent, but not a good value for the price. Will not reorder.
