Chourmo (Marseilles Trilogy, 2)

What a find!
How did it take me so long to discover Izzo? I've read so many crime novels, but these are amongst the best. And like the best, the crime is less important than the characterisation, the deep knowledge of place and, as is so often the case, the celebration of a local cuisine. I don't want to read the last in this trilogy because I don't want it to be over so soon.

Wrong choice
Good book but I thought from description I was purchasing complete trilogy so in error I got 2nd part. I’d have chosen to start with first part.

This is Volume Two of the trilogy.
What do we owe the dead? Ought that debt to outweigh our responsibilities to ourselves? Of the four friends, two are dead and the survivors stagger blindly about between the two opposing points. The book sees no way out.

Even better than Total Chaos
Even better than Total Chaos, the first remarkable novel in the series. Gives a gritty, portrait of Marseille and its denizens.

Excellent read as standalone, even better as part of trilogy

Wonderful evocation of Marseliies
The book makes you feel you've been there, know the characters, feel for them and worry! It is a masterpiece along the the other two books in the trilogy.
