Ultra Slim Travel Alarm Clock with Calendar & Temperature

Great value for a convenient travel alarm clock with temperature. I bought this as a backup to the very similar 20+ y/o Seth Thomas travel alarm my dad gave me in the 90s. That clock is still working well. I keep it on my bed stand because it reminds me of my dad and it's so easy to tap and see the time and temperature during the night. Because of its sentimental value, I hate to take it on my travels for fear of losing it. This new clock is almost exactly like the original. There are a few cosmetic changes that do not affect its functions. I depend on the temperature function on my travels. While most hotel rooms provide an alarm clock, they've never provided a thermometer. (No. The thermostat does not count.) So happy I found this was still being manufactured.

This alarm clock is the same alarm clock that Radio Shack used to sell, only with a different manufacturer's name on front. Actually, Radio Shack was not the only place where they used to sell, but that was where I used to get mine. They do not live very long, maximum a year or two before breaking, but they are also cheap. I got used to them because for me, it has just the right size. Over time I got accustomed to its buttons and controls. I struggled when two of them broke at the same time, all of my local Radio Shack stores closed, and it is out of stock on their web site, with no projected in-stock date. I was so happy to find a basically identical clock here. What else to say? Its alarm is moderately loud - perfectly enough to wake me up, but not enough to wake up the whole house. On a relative scale, my phone has alarm which is about twice as loud. Alarm is just beeping.PROS:1) Runs on a single AAA battery which lasts for estimated half a year.2) Stand folds in and makes it easy to take this alarm clock on a trip. Not that it is needed, with phones, but still..3) "travel size", but not too small. For me, a nice compromise between utility and portability - it does not take much room on the night stand, but it is also not too tiny.4) switchable to 24 hour clock and temperature in degrees C.5) Large button on top turns on light. It is very easy to find in the dark.6) has a temperature display (not really needed, but a nice touch)7) shows date and day of the week (for me, this is really not needed, but whatever).8) no disturbing light. I prefer it this way. The screen is completely dark at night, unless you press the button on the top. Once pressed, the screen illuminates for about 2 seconds.CONS:1) Does not last very long. Expect 6 months to 2 years, depending on how often you use the alarm or change the alarm time. But this is OK for the price under $10.2) mechanical switches are the first to fail. Over the time, contacts in these switches start failing. This is the number one failure mechanism.3) It does not show the alarm time on the screen. To me, this is the main drawback and the reason for 4 star rating instead of 5 stars. In order to see the alarm time, one has to slide the switch in the back to the position normally used to set the alarm.4) forgets all the settings (alarm, time, date) when battery is replaced (or if there is a poor contact in the battery).

So far I am madly in love with this clock. 1. It's small, so it doesn't take up a lot of space on my nightstand. 2. It has a soft, pleasant alarm sound - a gentle "beep beep" to ease me into my day. 3. The backlight turns on when the alarm goes off, and I appreciate the visual wakeup paired with the auditory alarm. 4. A built in thermometer. 5. Buttons are easy to use and it's intuitive to operate. A great purchase!

You get what you pay for. Alarm does not work. Very cheaply made.

Poor quality.All the moving parts are wobbly and flaky — snooze button, stand, batteries box. I'm afraid that I can break it if I push the snooze button too hard in the sleep when snoozing the alarm.The backlight makes digits dim and bare readable if you look from any angle except from the top. They are even dim when you look right straight at them.To reach the buttons for setting the alarm time you have to open battery box.It could be ok if I bought that in Chinese e-market for $3-$5 (shipping included) but the price on Amazon is ridiculously high for this piece of technology.I would put 1 star but I should not — it shows time, date and temperature and beeps as an alarm ring.

Compact, easy to read, easy to figure out and set everything, with one exception. To set the time, alarm, and/or calendar, you must take off a protective cover each time. Very inconvenient. Makes changing your alarm setting a bit of a pain. I've had many types of travel alarms, and this is the first time I've seen this. If it were not for this design flaw I would give the alarm clock 5 stars.

Perfect for my needs. This little clock has it all. Time, alarm, temp. It has a cool little backlight to see time in the dark. I'm taking this on a cruise as sometimes, my phone may not work and I don't count on the ships employees to give me a wake up call. When leaving very early in the A.M for an excursion, this is priceless. This little clock is very lightweight so no need to worry about adding any significant weight to your luggage. It packs neatly and in a very small space. For the cost, it truly can't be beat.

Works well but levers are so very tiny and close together, it's hard for my eyes to see if I have them on the correct setting. But that's what I wanted for travel; small and compact.....
