Great for awkward angled staircases
This gate is fantastic. I have angled stairs which means a standard stair gate will not work. I looked at this gate and realised I could make it fit (see pics). I used the included paper template (not the one on the side of the box!!!) to fit the main part of the gate which was incredibly easy, and then pulled the screen across to help me measure up where to position the wall hooks. It was a little fidly to fit the bottom wall hook due to the position of my stairs but this is the only product I could get to work... And it does work! When closed it is positioned close to the next step meaning my puppy cannot get under the screen and climb up. I would recommend that you do the same if you get this gate because if you do not lock it into place it can be stretched a little. It is very easy to use - just pull it across and put the handles into the hooks. Then just push and turn the locking handle and this locks it into place so it cannot be stretched. This also relieves pressure on the wall hooks. My kids are 7 and 5 and they can use the gate with ease so on that basis alone I highly recommend this gate for families with children who need unsupervised access. My puppy loved sneaking up to their bedrooms at bedtime to play and keep them awake. You can see the sadness in his eyes when he realised that this gate actually works and the little Houdini cannot escape through it!I also love thst the screen retracts meaning it is not obtrusive when not in use. This gate was perfect for my needs and I cannot recommend it highly enough, especially if you have awkward stairs.

Looks flimsy but works well when locked
Neatly slides away when open. Need to remember to set the tension, then works well. Kerps the dog downstairs.

Great product overall, but measuring guides are totally inaccurate for installation!!
Gates look great once up, only on day 1 so we’ll see if they’ll stand up against a strong willed toddler. Easy to use, slightly tricky with one hand though. 4* because the measuring guides are totally inaccurate so for anyone not checking you will end up with multiple holes in the wall/framework. Thankfully we checked having seen a previous review on the same problem. A shame as this could have been a 5*

The price for 2 in 1
Product:Best stair gate ever, I was looking around all over for these roll out stair gates and everything was around £50 each I needed 2 one for on top of the stairs that my baby shouldn’t fall down and one for the bottom of the stairs that my baby shouldn’t climb up as she can fall down, this gate you can use it in 2 places top and bottom you get 2 sets of clips to click in the roll out gate and i installed 1 on top and 1 on the bottom of my stairs then when ever I need the gate closed upstairs As I go up I take with the roll click it in and I have a gate upstairs same the opposite and for this price! The quality is amazingInstillation:I needed to call a handy man as in my house it was a bit complicated but if some one has the tools he should be able to install in It on his own, just I wouldn’t recommend to use the wall plugs they sent with as when I tried doing it my self it didn’t look strongOther wise best stair gate and would definitely recommend as most people who want to use it for stairs wouldn’t mind having 2

Broken bracket latch
It worked well for the first 8 months and then needed to remove the Stairgate from the wall brackets and as I was pressing the button on the bracket to remove the Stairgate from the bracket section in the bracket, snapped meaning that the Stairgate will no longer clip onto the bracket. so now I can’t use the Stairgate .considering the Stairgate has a 12 month warranty it’s rather strange that I was offered a refund for the Stairgate which cost me nearly £50 I was given a refund for only £16 .?So I asked if I could just exchange Stairgate but the Amazon advisor said no and to just use the £16 refund ,To be quite honest, Amazon should be replacing. ItI should be given a full refund or a exchange, which is what I really wanted from Amazon as I purchased this from Amazon website .I have also tried to get the sellers information so I can go directly to them, but every time I try I’m direct back to the Amazon robot .which again seems very strange to me.

Game changer
Super easy to install and it’s so much better looking than them metal ones that are awfulI have an open dining kitchen with a slight wall in between, this was perfect so when I’m cooking and my baby is in his walkie in the dining room I can pull the gate across to stop him getting into kitchen, then once I’m done I can retract and it’s open plan again! A real game changer. When my baby is up abit we are going to get one for upstairs too!

Not great
So I bought two of these. One for the top and one for the bottom of my stairs. They're alright but because they're retractable, if you pull them over to lock (as in blocking the stairs), if you push any weight on the barrier, it just pushes out. So the dogs and cats can squeeze through it. I'm hoping that if my daughter was to walk into it, it would.protect her from falling down stairs, but part of me feels that she woild still tumble as the roller woild keep going. (This is very hard to explain so I hope this is making sense.)It does the job -blocks the stairs. But like a seat belt, if you keep pulling it, it keeps going until it's ran out of roll. It's the same for this. Not ideal for pets, but hopefully safe enough for kids. 😬It's definitely flimsy and feels cheap which is annoying Considerating they are £50 each. I would recommend looking for something more sturdy

Great little find
Particularly good if you don't have a standard doorway or opening you want covered. No banging your hip into the metal frame which I constantly did with the normal child/dog gate, and no bar across the bottom to trip over. Mesh is stiff and strong enough for two border collies and the fact you can move it to another place easily is a great addition - though you get a second lot of attachments to use you don't get a second lot of spacers if using with a skirting board but easily solved with a bit of wood instead. Different colours also let it be as unobtrusive as possible.
