These are excellent shorts, but they have a serious flaw. They have no way to adjust the waste and keep them up when either a) going in the water; or 2) when you have excess stuff in the pockets. The fabric is very good in its stretch and weight/durability. i don't understand why there isn't a high quality draw cord (like Prana has) to adjust and firmly cinch the waste when needed. For the price, they should have that. I don't see a simple way to add a draw string either (not like i should need to). To be fair, i could use some form of belt through the belt loops that is good for water (not leather, dries very fast, does not stretch, etc).

The union amphibian shorts are (in my opinion), the best feature/comfort for the value ($). I have never had any seams fail, and the fabric is durable. I probably have 8-10 pairs of those model and they still look new. I have most of the colors they come in, and wear them daily.

TL;DR - Recommended. Classic look perfect for all casual occasions, fit true to size, lightweight, quick-drying and wrinkle resistant. Sits just above the knee.I bought these in the light gray color before and had to get another pair. Now that I’ve got plage heather, I find myself wanting to get backup pairs for whenever I wear these out in case they stop making them.The shorts are very lightweight. Add to that the pocket liners being mesh and it’s obvious they are designed for swimming.The good part: they don’t LOOK like a pair of board shorts or whatever preferred term you use. They look great and I never hesitate to wear them out for any casual occasion.In fact, I haven’t even worn them to swim. But they are quick to dry and don’t wrinkle. Out of the bag, you might have concerns about the material seeming slightly stiff, but one wash and that is not a concern.They also fit to size. I don’t know what happened in recent years, but for some reason waist size became arbitrary in the men’s clothing industry. I haven’t used measuring tape here but I have a 32” waist and the size 32 is perfect here.The material does have a bit of stretch to it, but the waist does not. They sit right at the waist and just above the knee.Overall I would highly recommend these to everyone who wears clothes.

This is my 4th pair of these shorts. Perfect for travelling and also golf. Essentially made of boardshorts material so they are very stretchy, quick dry and repel water. Throw in wash, hang dry and no need for ironing.

Great swimsuit that you can wear golfing, swimming or to a nice dinner. They fit good and dry fast.

Got these as a second pair for my husband. He wears them all the time. Great in hot temperatures and look good. He doesn’t prefer the short shorts, so these are a good choice for him.
