Knock at the Door

I don't understand why other reviewers are calling it a film. Beautiful images like the one ones in the book with uplifting phrases floating over them. Lovely celtic music accompanies the images. It runs approximately four minutes. About the same amount of time it takes to go through the book. What makes this book so special for me are the images. I, sadly, do not recognize the names of the artists but some of the images call to mind the works of W.A. Beaugureau, and Amy Brown, as well as renderings that take me back to favorite childhood books that I cherished for their illustrations. The feeling that I received from this book is a reminder to get back to the simple things, like seeking beauty, and joy. Things that require us to log off from our computers and have to do's for five minutes and log into what makes us feel free, happy and inspired. And if you don't go for that stuff, then, buy it for the images: they are THAT beautiful! Keep in mind that the book is 5"X5", though, it doesn't diminish it's impact.

I really LOVE the artwork in this book, and the message.I had seen the you-tube version and I wanted it.I got the 2009 calendar as well. (The calendar is a little pricey, but beautiful and big.)I guess I didn't realize 1) How small it would be (just a little bigger than a DVD); and, 2) That there is nothing more to it than the you-tube version. No more of a story or anything.., just BEAUTIFUL artwork and nice little fantasy pictures.I know it says the size.., but up close and personal it just loses a lot in this tiny version.If I would have known, I would have only bought a really big version, like a 10x10 or larger.., for a coffee table book. But I do LOVE the artwork and the whimsy.., it just wasn't quite what I was expecting.I like that it came with the DVD, that does make it worth the price, and I think it makes an excellent gift for anyone who likes this type of artwork.

I recommend this book and the enclosed CD very, very highly. Reading it will make you feel very good! It's creative and very original.

I really liked the online movie of this so I wanted to share it with my step daughter. I was a little disappointed in the size of the book as I expected it to be regular picture book size. It is small but still a nice and inspiring present. The pictures are a bit different from the online movie but I was aware of that before purchasing it. The dvd is a nice bonus.

This book and its DVD with it is a priceless return to when you were a child, perhaps your Mother or father read to you beautiful and magical tales of an enchanted forest, and the beings that dwelled in them. Buy it for yourself, you can enjoy it privately(in case you get teary-eyed) then let your kids and/or grandkids read the book, and watch the book come alive before their eyes, with the DVD that included. I bought this book a few years ago, and it is still one of my favorites.It encourages imagination, possibilities, and the most wonderful daydreams!

great art work , well put together

I researched what this item was about before purchasing, and all the reviews I read raved about how inspiring the book and film was.As a fan of fantasy art and general wellbeing literature, I was so excited to purchase this but was really disappointed with it.The book is pretty small, although the artwork is second to none. It is basically a series of quotes and questions written to enliven the spirit. It took me about a minute to read. The DVD is a 3 and a half minute slideshow of the book with accompanying folk music. I can't believe this costs £18. There are better inspiring books out there, although I can see why people adore the fantasy artwork. If the art is what you are after, there is a matching calendar available, which is probably the better option.

If I could draw - then this is the book that I myself would have written and illustrated!The drawings are beautiful, magical and fun and the words are just simple and yet so empowering. Such a small book in size, but a Giant in its content. I absolutely love it.

The disc is not a "film", it's a slideshow of what's in the book ! But it's lovely nonetheless even if the music's a bit cheesy. I certainly turn to it whenever I need an inspiration boost.
