Disappointed
Woodstock chimes were once made in America and were of the highest quality design and manufacture. The designs are still tuned, but many are nothing special for the high price charged. And manufacturing quality is very disappointing for the price charged.I bought the black and bronze Bells of Paradise. It features "just intonation", which makes the octaves sufficiently out of tune that they beat like a poorly tuned piano if you are too close: at greater distance, this is more tolerable. The overall tuning is less significant because the tubes rarely sound altogether because they are heavy, the sail is light, and the suspension allows the entire chime to wave in the wind without sounding all the tones. To get around this, I am using this large chime adjacent to my front door, indoors, so that the opening door causes it to sound more completely. Not what I intended for $62...Construction is the most disappointing factor. As others have written, there is no hanging loop or hook at the top, just a tangle of strings which gives an unfinished appearance. Likewise, the sail is cut out of a piece of aluminum, edges left rough and silver rather than colored black like the sail face: again, unfinished appearance. The cords are thin, and outdoors would doubtfully last a season, especially at the top. Woodstock offers refurbishing for a fee, which I would not be happy to pay on top of $62 original cost. I hung mine from the tangle of strings on a very smooth bronze hook which also swivels, having to provide this ($4) on top of cost of the chime. The tubes themselves appeared to be bronze anodized aluminum; despite excellent packing, one has a ding that shows the underlying (silver) aluminum, which I assume is a manufacturing defect. I swiveled the chime to the corner of the room to minimize seeing the flaw, which is small. The overall effect is decent musically, and it has a simple but acceptable look with my decor after I made some adjustments. Hanging from a hook that matches visually and also swivels will hopefully make the suspension cords last longer. I braided the tangled ends and put a few drops of unobtrusive glue to secure the end of the braid. I smoothed the edge of the sail with a fine file, and colored it black with permanent marker. I decided to keep the chime after figuring out the adjustments I wanted, and placing it indoors where the opening door causes a full sounding, and my ceiling fan on highest setting allows occasional faint sounding of individual tubes: each type of sounding has its charm.I will not purchase additional Woodstock chimes knowing they are no longer made in America and the price is not indicative of quality. For outdoor use, my original intention for the Bells of Paradise, the $7 chime from Walmart is attractive, sturdy, and sounds a lovely melody even in a slight breeze. Again, not made in America--but I already spent my chime budget on the Woodstock...

We are way beyond pleased......
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. We have the Woodstock chimes of Neptune on our deck, next to the Woodstock chimes of the Earth. They sound beautiful together, the lows of Neptune mingling with the higher notes of the Earth. Unfortunately, since our cold weather prevents us from leaving the window open, the chimes are hard to hear. So....we now have the chimes Bells of Paradise hanging in our living room. With just a gentle push, the sounds are deep, and the hum goes on for an extended period of time. I have very sensitive hearing, and they do not hurt my ears at all, even standing next to them. The arm of the lamp where they are hanging has a little bounce. We are way beyond pleased with all the chimes.

Buyer's Remorse
These are easily $40-$50 chimes. $76 after tax...not so much. I own some excellent chimes that I thought were woodstock (they were a gift) and I wanted to have one in each corner of my yard so ordered these. I found out that another company made the original chimes AFTER I received this purchase. I immediately felt buyers remorse so asked the person who gifted me the original chimes where they came from. In all fairness I learned they cost more than twice as much as these and were in fact another brand. That being said they are still 3-4 times the chimes that these so called large chimes wish they were. They are heavy and well made and I know they will stand up to the weather better then my new chimes. I can feel the more expensive chime's reverberation on my skin from 15 feet away and in fact use them to teach sensitivity for Tai Chi push hands. The woodstock chimes can barely be felt when standing next to them. They do sound exactly like the video and are pretty-ish but rather thin, puny and lightweight compared to higher quality chimes. I had to check the box to see if they were possibly medium...sent by mistake..no they are "large". Also the striker sits askew on the string and appears to be on upside down (larger hole drilled in striker where the knot should sit inside but instead it is on the top surface and knot is on bottom. It cannot sit at 90 degree angle to the chime and will annoy anyone with OCD. I went to a store that sells chimes and saw many of woodstock chimes are thrown together in this fashion while the more expensive chimes' strikers sit evenly. Not cool for the price. I threw away the box so not sure if I can return them. Edit: Just read some other reviews and just like them...I received no O ring with my purchase. I already had an S hook but you'd think for $70 plus they'd send a simple O ring or something to hang them.

Sublime!
Such calming melodious sounds! Sublime!I like the single vertical support string for each tube - meaning virtually no frictional wear and tear on the strings, no matter how much lateral movement.Very minor downside: the birds take a little while before they become accustomed to the sounds - so close to their feeding stations. ;-)Update: These chimes still sound blissful, but I need to say that the quality of the surface covering of the tubes have been gradually 'bonked off', leaving a sad grey patch (when new it was like the remaining tube outer surface, a fine deep copper colour) where struck. Clearly they haven't been quality tested. I repeat, it still sounds wonderful! So maybe 4 stars more appropriate.

Beautiful addition to the garden
Did lots of research before choosing these chimes (you can listen to each chime on the Woodstock website which is really helpful) and decided these were the ones for us. Not the cheapest, but the quality is excellent and the sound is wonderful on a summer's evening. I'm delighted with the chimes and would definitely recommend.

EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED
I have been looking to replace my chimes for a while, but I wanted to check the sounds out first - so I was able to hear all the sounds on You Tube for Woodstock chimes, I love these - they don't sound tacky or tinny! They are quite big and looks sooo lovely - They chime beautifully and gently in the wind - would recommend.

Lovely
Took me a long time to choose these chimes. Once I had decided on woodstock chimes I went on their website and listened to all their chimes. As a process of elimination I chose these. Very happy. They chime gently in a small breeze and sound lovely.

Music to the ears!
Bigger than imagined but not at all disappointed. They produce a very therapeutic, deeper sound, than some. I wanted chimes not highly pitched and these are just perfect as I dislike 'tinny' windchimes. Sound beautiful in a gentle breeze and I would certainly invest in woodstock chimes again. I hope to collect more and I would also purchase as a gift. I chose mine after listening to them on YOUTUBE........ A great way to hear what they sound like before buying!
