Jewels from Imperial St. Petersburg Paperback – Illustrated, November 15, 2014

This is an extraordinary book -- there have been a number of books on Russian jewels (Faberge, etc.) in past years, but this one, in my opinion, surpasses the rest -- for one thing, it chronologically examines jewelry by the various Tsarist reigns, which helps immensely. For another, the photography is superb -- in fact, it is one of the few books on jewels which shows extreme closeups of how some of the pieces are made and fit together. Very fine book.

OMG! This is yummy! Lovely, lovely photos and drawings and works of art of all those Russian gems and jewelry you've only read about before. Definitely a book to be lingered over and visited again and again.

Book arrived 2 days early. Fabulous read and I can’t put it down. Packed full of compelling personal history intertwined with the jewels. Richly illustrated with excellent photographs.

I have bought several of the Imperial jewelry books over the years and have loved each one. But this book stands out for the scope of not just the Imperial family's jewelry but also for the items given to family, friends and associates. The stories are wonderful but the paintings in the book are spectacular. Many are new to me and I would love to see a book from this author on the pictures of the Imperial court. They are that wonderful. I am thrilled with this purchase.

The book is a revelation for me as I didn't know the ties of Finland with Russia. So many new examples of the magnificent Russian jewelry, and we are not talking Faberge exclusively. A must for jewelry lovers.

I highly recommend this book. The discussion of the history of the various jewelers and the purchasers of the bijoux are fascinating. The photographs, both archival and modern, are very clear and the jewels themselves are breathtaking.

Interesting book, with great pictures, especially for lovers of jewelry (many will eat their hearts out).Helps make clear, however, why there was a Russian revolution.

Excellent book.Hard back,top quality paper used.A lot of books give good illustration but this books illustrations are absolutely superb.The content regarding information was fantastic.Some books give perhaps a picture.when it was made and very little else.This book gives superb pictures,when it was made,explicit detail of what it is made of when and by whom.For me the icing on the cake is the history of the jewellery which is so important.This book has everything and I would highly recommend it to any lover of precious gems.

Nice enough and quite informative, with a few interesting anecdotes, but where are all those Russian Crown jewels? I was hoping for information and pictures on the main 'stars' of Russian royalty in addition to the obscure ones.

A must have book for all lover,s of fine jewellery and history of Russia. Lots of never seen before images of fantastic jewellery from private collection,s. The researched information was excellent well written and informative.

Bought as a gift for my wife who loves looking at pictures of and reading about classic jewellery. She has other books on Russian Court jewels but this book covers examples that are not included elsewhere. Beautiful pictures and masses of interesting information.
