An epic read by an amazing author!
Oh Julie, where do I start? Once again you have amazed me. Julie you incredible woman, I think I may love you. It's been half an hour since I finished the book and I'm not sure whether I can continue with life until The Forever Song is in my hands. Kagawa has done it again, I put my trust in her and she showed me paradise before shattering the world around me to leave me damaged and drained. The Eternity Cure is the epitome of heartbreak. Nonetheless, I cannot wait for the next instalment regardless of what may happen, who knows? Maybe everything will turn out dandy fine but with the evil genius Julie Kagawa being the master behind this I highly doubt it.I honestly don't know where to begin. This book was epic and when I say epic I mean EPIC! I think capitals are the only way to make it clear just how much I loved this book. In The Eternity Cure Allie is no longer a badass vamp, no, she is THE ULTIMATE BADASS. She evolves into the heroine I'd like to see in every book and definitely brings excitement to the story. The characters in this series are seriously awesome, I'm glad to have seen the return of many from the previous book. However there is one who stole the show for me that I certainly won't forget about anytime soon, Jackal. Ah yes, Jackal, the raider king who stole the lives of so many loved characters in The Immortal Rules. I didn't think that I'd be able to tolerate him but I have gone on to love him. He has a certain bitterness which envelopes him, but with his wit he comes out on top with hilarious one liners. I feel that Jackals character helped move the story along during the duller moments and I definitely appreciated his presence in the book. The relationship between Allie and Jackal probably has to be my all-time favourite from any book, It was nice to see them bond with each other as brother and sister especially when they were going on at each other. In a way it reminded me of my old brother and I, we always used to bicker and make sarcastic comments but now we're older we tolerate each other and get on a great deal more. Below is my favourite Jackal quote, I'm not sure why it amused me but I found myself giggling hysterically at it!"This is the most I have ever been in the sewers in one place. If someone had said to me a month ago, 'Hey, Jackal, guess where you'll be spending most of your time in New Covington? Ankle-deep in shit!' I would've ripped their lips off."The pacing of the book was well executed and even through the dull moments I found myself wanting to read on. However what won me over the most was the plot itself. There was always something happening in this book and even though the characters got into some sticky situations which left me reeling, I felt that it was always within reason. Everything that has happened throughout The Eternity Cure has come down to one thing which will unveil itself in The Forever Song next year. I will try to be patient for my sanity's sake but it will be hard going until then! The Eternity Cure bought some nasty surprises and the villain himself is diabolical. But with all of the ups and downs, I think what we have here is a fine example of an excellent sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed every step of the journey especially when all of my favourite characters were thrown together on a mission. Allison, Zeke, Kanin and Jackal are an entertaining bunch which made it an amusing read, I feel that Kagawa has written them as realistically as possible; this was nice as it made it easier to relate to each and every one of them. I must warn you though; you won't know what's hit you when you get to the final chapter! I can't begin to explain how it made me feel.If you loved The Immortal Rules but are wary of reading this, I can assure you it's definitely worth carrying on with the series. I bet you'll like it just as much as I did! If you haven't started the series yet then what are you waiting for?!

In the dark with just a head torch for support!
I have only recently discovered Julie Kagawa from her Iron Fey series (which is one of the best YA series' I have read) and can now say that she is definitely up there in my top 10 favourite authors after starting to read this Blood of Eden series as I have not been able to put the books down. I had recently been offered an arc of the third book in this series (The Forever Song (The Blood of Eden: Book 3)) by Harlequin and so I knew I would need to purchase and read the first two in the series before reading the third and I can honestly say my money has been well spent. I am already halfway through the third book in the series before I have even got around to writing this review and I am sneaking every chance I can get to read inbetween looking after my two little ones. If you are a fan already of Julie Kagawa, enjoy YA or dystopian style books then I think you would really enjoy this series and I can't recommend it enough. The series continues after Allison has left Zeke and the rest of the human gang she joined during the first book (The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden: Book 1)) in the safety of Eden. Allison has started to follow her blood tie to find Kanin her sire and is following the path of destruction that Sarren has left in his wake when suddenly the blood tie splits and she is faced with a decision of which path to follow. Probably unsurprisingly she picks the wrong path which actually leads her to her blood brother Jackel (aka James who I absolutely love for some strange reason) and an unlikely truce is reached when they discover what Sarren's ultimate goal actually is and where he has gone to fulfil it - back to New Covington. Sarren has managed to unleash a new more deadlier version of red lung which also affects vampires should they feed from the infected and will wipe out the planet if allowed to be released further than the walls of New Covington. So will Allison and Jackel manage to free Kanin from Sarren's grasp and also stop the deadly new virus? Is there a cure for Red Lung and it's new strain?I absolutely loved this book and have been grabbing it to read every chance I have had over the last 4 days as it has been non stop action from the very beginning. I love that Jackel appears to have come over to the good side but still retains his wickedness and the surprise addition to the story near the beginning and heartbreak at the end was unexpected and heart wrending. Julie Kagawa has once again drawn me into a series of hers and I am completely addicted - hook, line and sinker. As I said at the beginning of this review I am steaming ahead through the third book in the series which incidentally is the one that started all this late night reading and very very tired in the morning when getting up with my children madness but I simply want the madness to continue and not to end! What will I do when I finish the third book?!!! Another amazing series from Julie which I would highly recommend and darn you Harlequin/Mira Ink for tempting me into the darkness with just my head torch for support (I have to read of an evening with a head torch near enough under the covers as my newborn is sleeping in the same bedroom as me and my husband and she will wake up if I have the light on)!Blood of Eden Series:-1) The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden: Book 1)2) The Eternity Cure3) The Forever Song (The Blood of Eden: Book 3)

Amazing
This book's plotline felt a little stretched but the characters? Insane. In a good way. I love Jackal's wit, and Allie's determination. Its really a great story, i definately recommend it!

Buena historia
Está segunda parte me encantó! Ya quiero ver qué sigue. El libro estaba algo maltratado y algunas hojas borrosas.

Holy moly--when is the next book out?!
[...]Okay, so I know the whole vampire fad is a thing of the past now, but trust me when I say that this is one that you can't dismiss. I read "The Immortal Rules" when it first came out, eager to read anything by Julie Kagawa after practically devouring "The Iron Fey" series--in-between novellas included. At first, I was a little skeptical. I mean, vampires? Didn't that trend begin and end with "Twilight"? ... Five chapters in, and I was hooked. A kick-ass heroine, unique take on paranormal bloodsuckers and a seriously creepy bad guy? Yes, please. The second installment of the "Blood of Eden" series, "The Eternity Cure", was released earlier this week, which, of course, meant that I had to get my hands on it and finish it ASAP.Only a few months have passed since Allison Sekemoto chose between death or a new life as a vampire. And only a few weeks ago, Allie turned away a chance at a peaceful life in Eden with the group of survivors she'd grown to care for, including Zeke, the strong and compassionate human she still can't get out of her head. But she has vowed to rescue her sire, Kanin, who is being tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of his blood leads her back to her past--New Covington and the Fringe, as well as her brother vampire prince who may become her wary ally. Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she's never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is threatening humans and vampires alike.I have, without fail, loved every single one of Ms. Kagawa's main characters, and Allie and her friends are no exception. Allie is an incredibly strong, determined heroine who is just so likable and believable, especially as she struggles with her thirst for blood and the humanity she's fought to keep. Plus, she fights with a katana. I've always wanted to learn how to fight with a sword of sorts, and being able to experience that vicariously through Allie as she slices her way through rabids and evil mole men is just plain thrilling (pathetic of me, I know). And I don't know whether it's because I'm Asian, but having an Asian main character just makes her extra unique, since it's not often that you see a lot of them in YA novels! Asian ramblings aside, I also loved reading about her romance with Zeke. Ms. Kagawa develops their relationship in a way that's not cliched or tiresome to read about, and that final chapter literally brought tears to my eyes! That's how invested I am in Zeke and Allie's relationship--I love the way he helps her keep her humanity in check, and how their romance isn't overbearing or sappy, and the main focus really remains on the plot at hand.I don't think this review would be complete if I don't mention Jackal. My goodness, I completely fell in love with his character! Sure, Zeke's kind and strong and lovable, but Jackal is just as endearing in his own way. Despite the fact that he was a callous, cruel vampire raider king in "The Immortal Rules", Jackal is portrayed in the sequel as someone who's quick-witted, even funny, and does harbour emotions, albeit buried deep, deep down inside. I absolutely love his wit and dry humour, and his sarcasm had me laughing at some places. Not to mention, he's perfect for bantering with Allie. While he might not be an all together 'good' person, he's definitely more complex than a simply cold-hearted vampire. But really, his devil-may-care attitude was what really did it for me. I cannot wait to see more of him especially in the next book! The storyline of "The Eternity Cure" was just as, if not more, exciting and compelling as that of its preceding novel. The tensions were up-there from page one, and escalated as the story progressed. I just couldn't put the book down; my heart was racing as I sped from one chapter to the next! There are a lot of twists and turns and revelations revealed throughout the novel, and learning more about the disease and the cure and the characters is so, unbelievably exciting. There's never a moment when I wanted to skim over parts of the book because it was boring. Needless to say, I was hooked. Especially by the way it ended! It's such a jaw-dropping, I-knew-it cliffhanger, and I just cannot wait for the next book... Cannot.Overall, "The Eternity Cure" is a gripping, exciting second installment in the "Blood of Eden" series, with a wonderful cast of characters and a thrilling storyline. I highly, highly recommend this series, and any of Ms. Kagawa's novels, to anyone looking for compelling and well-written YA novels. Now only if the third book will be released soon...as in, tomorrow. But I know the wait will be well worth it!Rating: 5/5

Unheilbar süchtig nach "Blood of Eden"
