Southern Living Miss Lemon Abelia, 2 Gal, Yellow

I’m so happy with these! I’ve gone back and purchased 2 more times. Gradually planting them in my garden. I love the color of the leaves. A beautiful pop of green that’s a refresher to my garden that had gotten a little boring with darker colors of shrubs and flowers. Very healthy! Don’t hesitate!

I am a Master Gardener in the process of replacing many shrubs on my property. Previously purchased (2) 2 gal. Southern Living Miss Lemon Abelias from Amazon. I was very impressed. They were healthy with a strong root ball. I needed one more. This recent shrub arrived with no Southern Living tag. It was significantly smaller than the previous shrubs. Usually when the pot is removed, the root ball stays in the shape of the pot. When I removed this shrub from the pot, the soil spilled out to expose a very small root ball which was not able to hold the soil in place. It looked like a very small shrub was placed in a 2 gallon pot to sell for a higher price.I think I will look elsewhere for quality shrubs.

I planted Miss Lemon Abelia in part sun in my 7B garden under the crowns of the pines. I love the cheerful lime glow. My favorite thing is the delicate blush of the tiny bell like flowers provide nectar for the pollinators early summer through fall and it's also its an evergreen unless there is a harsh winter!

I was hesitant to purchase a shrub online, but overall, it arrived better than expected. There were quite a bit of dropped leaves in the package, but the shrub was mostly healthy. However, as others have mentioned, this isn’t truly a two gallon. The shrub I received was pretty small with a tiny rootball in a two gallon pot and A LOT of loose soil. That being said, Miss Lemon Abelia is a beautiful shrub, but I would only order online again as a last resort if unable to purchase locally.

I’ve purchased & planted multiple shrubs this year from the Southern Living Plant Collections. They are all thriving and doing well. When I received all four of these Miss Lemon Abelias…. Didn’t disappoint. Just bright little flirty foliage. No blooms on them as expected going into winter. Just make sure to carefully take them out of the container supporting it from the dirt not grabbing from the top of plant which will break the delicate branches. I always add espoma bio tone in the hole prior to planting to help with root support. Back fill the soil, firmly pressing then water in well. Viola! Easy peesy. So if you want beautiful bright evergreens out in your garden, impress your neighbors by planting these. They will stand out! Yes highly recommend!
