A wonderful historical profile of Letchworth State Park!
I bought this book because I am from the area and I used to work with the author at Letchworth State Park (LSP) in the 70s - plus we used to carpool. Since I AM from the area, I was especially interested in learning more about the history of LSP. When I first received the book, I have to say I was disappointed that all of the pictures were in black and white. It's such a beautifully colorful park, so it only seemed appropriate that the more recent photos would be in color. However, once I got past that, I became engrossed in the historical information that Mr. Breslin included in the book along with many very old photographs - fascinating! I especially loved the information he provided about the CCC camps, especially because my father was one of those military men that helped 'build' the park. Generally, I'm not a history buff, but I LOVE this book!

Wonderful Park History
This is more of a history book of story and pictures of Letchworth, a park of many decades for my family. If you know the park, this is a book you may wish to own as it explains how it came about. If you don't know the park, this is NOT a good book of pictures to learn about it as it is currently. In my study are 3 large framed photographs of the Park walls I climbed up and down. Over a 60 year period it has become more touristy but it is still a special place that visitors value and keep clean. My grandfather spent a lot of time in the Park over 100 years ago. It's worth your visiting but suggest you check the web for pictures or to download a map. Buy the book only if you want to know the history.

This book brought back many good memories, and have many of the scenes that ...
I lived close to the park back in 1963 to 1974 on the MT Morris, Gibsonville Rd, Leicester, NY, end.used to go there on Sundays and have breakfast picnics. Drove through it many times in all the seasons. Moved to NW Colorado in 1975 and wanted this book just to have. Used to climb up on the rail road bridge and look at view from there. This book brought back many good memories, and have many of the scenes that are pictured in it. Would recommend it to any one wanting to know the History of Letchworth Park.

A little bit of history you don't hear about in the history books
The pictures really add a great dimension to the book. There isn't much written about this park or the history behind it. I found it informative and so did the students

A treasure
I have known Letchworth park all my life and after reading this book, realized that I knew very little about the place I thought I knew so well. Once again, my geographical closeness to the park(30 Miles) peaks my interest, but I think that once you have visited "The Grand Canyon of the East", you will find this history amazing.
