Q: How do these compare to the $5 set from Walmart? Are they sturdier?

Can't provide the direct product compare but we did buy for the grandkids, they pick their favorite color for use and they get used on a regular basis 3 days a week. We have been very happy with the product and its performance. Bought January 2021.

Q: How can I get the Plates by themselves ?

You can’t but look up bamboo plates and get a set of 6 I think.

Q: Puedo comprar todo del mismo color

The packages come in multiple colors, so you are unable to just get ONE color

Q: Are these think heavy duty?

I run them thru the dishwasher and use them all the time
