A great valued ‘little’ piece of kit
Well I got this well within the time stated by Amazon.Setup was as clear cut as could have, biggest problem was locating the stations (spellings weren’t the same as I’m used to) so that’s no fault of the unit. Then there was the problem of interfacing so I could play it over my network and failed completely. After doing some digging, reading the instruction manual etc and after some time banging my thick head against the wall I realised that the only outputs are a analogue line out and the DAC interface, Wi-Fi and Lan are used primarily for the feed.Problem resolved by the use of a Bluetooth rx/tx unit and using that to connect to a one of my smart speakers.Performance wise , I was finding that my actual internet radio was dropping feed and then stopped in buffering mode until I turned it off and on again this didn’t or hasn’t happened with this kit. Yes it does drop but it goes straight into buffering and then restarts when the feed returns..At the price and if you take the output into consideration I think it’s a steal and well worth it, out performing my dedicated internet radio and wish I had got one earlier.

Excellent value wifi music streamer
I've used this Roberts RS1 music streamer for a few months now and I'm seriously impressed. From previous experiences, I have an aversion to any device that requires connection to the Internet and an app to operate, so I approached this product with trepidation. I was pleasantly surprised.I think the point of user reviews is to give information on the usability rather than re-state specifications and features that can be found on the manufacturer's website. And I'm pleased to say, it's eminently usable. The UNDOK app used to control the device was simple to download onto an old Android tablet, though due to previous negative experiences with Google's Chromecast Audio, I chose to download an older version of the UNDOK app which was a closer age match to my tablet. I also own a Roberts stream 94i Internet radio and, together with their RS1, they are two of the most usable wifi streaming devices I've owned. Roberts have certainly mastered the user interface which is logical and, largely, intuitive for a product with such functionality. Speaking as someone who has wasted days trying to get Internet connected devices to work in the past, operability is key for me - it makes or breaks a product. The RS1 permits many functions yet I use it only for wirelessly streaming music from both a Windows 10 PC and a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device to a music playing system using the old Android tablet (v4.4.2) to control functionality. Both the optical digital output and the analogue line output work well and, although I haven't conducted rigorous sound quality checks on these two outputs, they sound better than expected given the low price. I've tried out the Ethernet (wired) connection and that worked fine too and the USB memory stick input which also worked nicely.Of the three cheap wifi music streaming devices I have (Chromecast Audio and EZCast M7) this is by far the best.Apart from the price (I paid under £15), the extensive feature set, the connectivity options and the fact it plays FLAC files, the best thing about the RS1 is the instruction manual. This is not your typical badly translated effort. By modern day standards, the manual is excellent as it not only explains all functions very clearly but gives useful tips and guidance as well.Hat's off to you, Roberts Radio.

Useful but...........
This product used to sell at about £150. It's certainly not worth that. At the price it's at now it offers great versatility. Over a wireless network or a wired connection via network cable you can use this for Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TuneIn and, although I didn't try this, your own music held on a NAS. You can use this for other audio devices as there is an audio input on board. You can play audio files held on a USB drive. When it comes to output you can use the 3.5mm output direct to powered speaker or amplifier or use the optical output to your own DAC. Sounds great doesn't it?No it doesn't and that's the problem. It sounds muffled and veiled even over optical output through a reasonable DAC. It sounds like it's stuck on 128Mbs. I bought a Goodmans Module at the same time. Although this is not as versatile, the Goodmans unit sounds a whole lot better.Maybe the RS1 I got was faulty, maybe there's a setting which I didn't find to increase the fidelity, maybe you'll find the sound OK. I, however, returned the Roberts RS1.
