Great bunk bed - excellent value if you put in the work
A great bunk bed. It isn’t totally clear online, but the kit comes all the parts you need to make this either a twin over full or twin over twin. The instructions walk through the twin over full steps by default, but there are only a couple of different steps if you’d rather make it twin over twin.Assembly is lengthy but not crazy. Everything ended up being sized exactly right and came together perfectly. Pre-drilled and Pre-started holes for door hinges were in perfect spots and everything came together smoothly. I’ve seen reviews panning the instructions and saying assembly is a real pain, but I do not think that is true. It’s a big project, and the details really matter — simply pay attention to where holes are in pictures to determine which ways different pieces need to face, and you’ll be fine. All told, it took about 5-hours start to finish without rushing.Oh, and make sure you have a hex bit for your screw gun or drill. Pretty much the whole thing assembles with long hex bolts that would take a very long time to do by hand. Invest in a drill and thank yourself later. Or find a friend and borrow one. Just don’t go crazy and over-tighten anything.

Great product.... but....
These bunk beds are pretty heavy duty in my opinion except for the steps. Not sure I trust those completely. I may try and beef up the steps. I did have a couple issues. 1. The back gaurd at the top of the steps did not line up with the screw holes. I'm going to cut it down just enough so it lines up. 2. The bottom small drawer insert was not the correct size at all so I can't currently use that. Hoping they send me a replacement. *update* (The company did fix my issue and very quickly!!! Great customer service!!)3. Also with that small drawer it doesn't work well with carpet. There's no play at the bottom to pull it out. They could of designed it with carpet in mind. You have to lift up and pull to get it out. I did end up cutting the drawer down as well. As the weight sank into my carpet more I couldn't pull it out. So I cut a half inch off the face of the drawer. But let me tell you... I never would of thought it was going to take me 8 hours to put this thing together. Bad direction really. Hard to tell what way some pieces should face along with some not having labels. It's a very tedious and longgggg process. Be prepared for this to take up your entire day... overall I think it's a great product for what your getting.

Amazing bunk bed with a ton of storage!
I was searching for a bunk bed that included stairs and as much storage as possible for my boys shared bedroom- & this is perfect! There is so much storage and it is nicely made. We did keep our queen mattress on the bottom bunk instead of a full mattress, we do plan to purchase a full mattress eventually…but the queen works fine for right now! It did come in A LOT of pieces, but my husband is pretty handy so it wasn’t too difficult for him. I’m so happy with my purchase!

Average at best
What can I say about this bed... I think Marcus Aurelus said it best "...You get what you pay for"Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, if you set your bar pretty low. I was mostly OK with a terrible paint job, warped wood and some minor quality control issues. So here is a brief overview of my experience with the Softsea bunk bed.Instructions were generally easy to follow, and with the exception of one piece, all the pre drilled holes and threads lined up where they were supposed to be. Thats not to say certain parts didnt require some modifications (see picture 3, where we had to custom drill some holes for a stair piece). Assembly took a generous 4 hours with many brakes in between and help from a toddler. The wood is warped, no pretty way to say it. Its cheap pine (maybe?) however, after you lock everything down and tighten, it fits together pretty snug. Just be careful not to overtighten. Unfortunately, the back to the bottom drawer is warped to hell, and I dont think it can be saved. So its very likely we will not be using the bottom drawer, which is a shame since that is a big reason why we went with this model. The paint job is pretty bad, it is clear that the quality control standards in Vietnam are pretty low at softsea. Many black handprints embedded in the paint, luckily its in parts largely unseen. But still... it's pretty bad. On the visible parts, you can see runs, yellowing and uneven layers. Some places the paint is so thin that we had to add a few layers, so clothes and sheets don't get caught in the poorly finished wood.Like I said before, the wood is super cheap, so if using a drill to put this together take your time and go slow otherwise you'll split the boards. I was pretty careful, but still had 2 side supports split a good 4-6 inches. All in all, once together its pretty sturdy. I was worried that the stair attachment would be an afterthought, but it is integrated into the construction pretty well. There are plenty of slats to put a mattress on which is great, but again be careful here as they're cut short and most are warped.Last thing ill mention is that this is not two beds stacked, but the side pieces are one solid unit. So great choice if you are looking for a sturdy bunk bed, but a bunk is all this will ever be.Would I buy this again? Probably not. But there is no way I'm taking this apart and sending it back. If this was on prime free shipping and you got this in the $700 price point, it would probably be fine if your bar is set pretty low. But pushing $900 with shipping, its almost worthwhile buying local for the same price and paying $100 for assembly.

Very disappointed
There were so many cracked and scratched pieces, touched up spots with paint that didn’t even match, and several places the predrilled holes were that weren’t in the right place or didn’t have any at all. Had hard to reach places to screw the nails in. Horrible experience. Then to top it off after 7 HOURS of trying to put this piece of crap together, we were missing a piece to put the drawer together that goes under the bed. Just sent a request for the missing piece. Hope to get a reply soon and the item.

A pain in the a&$ to put together! But worth the money.
I love this bunk bed. I bought it because me and my 7 y.o. daughter live in a 1 bedroom apartment, and I wanted her to have her own bed. Well, It was super hard to put together. The directions are horrible and there are no youtube videos so it took a few times taking it apart and reassembling to put in parts that I missed. I ended up paying someone to finish it. But I love it. Its sturdy, has good storage and looks Beautiful in our bedroom!
