Opal is as large as expected. However, my opal's color was mostly milky white with very little color. The diamond is much smaller relative to the opal than depicted. The person I gifted with this pendant did not notice the diamond was there until I pointed it out to her. I seriously considered returning it.

We spent a lot of time looking at various websites and stores for a REAL birthstone necklace to give as a Christmas gift to our daughter. We did have a price limit. After much searching, we found that this necklace was the best for the dollars spent. When it arrived, we looked at it through a loop and we were pleasingly surprised by its quality and presentation.The real review though was by our daughter. With her big smile, she put it on immediately.If there were any criticism it would be in the necklace chain. I am not a jewelry person, but I would like to see a little thicker chain. The original seems a bit fragile to me. Perhaps that's just the way necklaces are. But we were buying the stone with its clarity and the way the pendant looked. And we were not disappointed.

I have come to learn that, at this price point, you have to expect a bottom-of-the-barrel stone. Most of the reviews here are from parents who purchased this necklace for their daughters, and I think that may be the only appropriate age group for this item. Here are a handful of reasons to either spend more on a decent quality stone or pick a different stone altogether:1. The stone is nearly black. Even when back-lit, it is almost impossible to tell that this is a blue sapphire.2. Because light does not pass through the stone, paying extra for an oval cut (over another cut with fewer facets, like an emerald cut) is pointless unless you just like the shape.3. 1 ct. is just too small. Considering its meager size and dark "color", along with the fact that the diamond might as well not even be on the pendant because it is so small, when worn, this looks more like a mole against the skin.4. Most reviewers complain about the chain, but with a pendant this small, an incredibly thin chain is necessary so as to not make the pendant seem too small.On a side note, I contacted the seller company, and they were more than helpful in further educating me on sapphires, and offered to hand-pick a slightly lighter stone to replace the one I received (the color may vary slightly from stone to stone with this product).

I ordered this gift while deployed for my wife's first Mother's Day. The price is reasonable and the product arrived on time during a busy shipping period. I've yet to actually see the gift; however, my wife's reaction (that was caught on video) was enough to tell me that she loved it. I was told it passed the mark by all of the women that were around to see her get it. I would used this company again with no reservations.

This was bought as a Christmas present. It is simply beautiful and doesn't look at all cheap which it wasn't. The person to whom this was bought for really liked it and was very pleased with it.
