Digital enhancement compared yo my VHS home recording of Pay Per View 89 concert
For Atlantic City DVD, I was not expecting the video and sound to be enhanced as this is more than a VHS transfer. Picture quality is brighter, sharper and appears they edited broadcast with other camera angles. I would rate the video and sound enhancement a B+ level which is very good from a 30 year old Pay Per View broadcast. Book has some nice photos but only average in presentation value. 2 CD set of Atlantic show is very good with clear audio, distinct sound of instruments and vocals, well balanced. Tokyo DVD quality is only a C as this appears to be a direct VHS transfer with little enhancement but this a bonus to the set and not the primary reason for purchase. I will view the bonus DVD but not expecting much based on other reviews. I am a bit bias as I attended the 89 show in Oakland and was impressed by overall concert presentation as I sat in field level seats. I originally purchased, recorded to VHS, transferred to DVDR the Atlantic show by Pay Per View ($50!) so I am able to compare from 89. For $68 on Amazon, I would rate the entire package a 5 star for the immense material and a Great momento of those who attended the Steel Wheels tour. I would strongly recommend for the Rolling Stone collector. The overall song selection is strong mixing old favorites with songs from Steel Wheels as Gimme Shelter performance is my favorite with strong band performance and a sexy playful Jagger\Fischer interaction. Overall band live performance is stellar. For the average RS fan, box set is bit too much material and best to just to purchase the DVD or CD of Atlantic City show separately for the lower price.

Been a Rolling Stones fan long time I like most live music only thing of a letdown on this box set is the live concert 1990 it’s a dvd that’s not worthy being with the other Blu-ray Disc but the packing and book are awesome

Great Stones performance BUT...
This is a great performance by the Stones as usual. Recorded from the Steel Wheels Urban Jungle tour 30 years ago, the band is obviously younger, yet surprisingly their energy level, which is great in this performance, seems to be the same as it is now (which just goes to show that the band and Mick Jagger in particular are one of rock's most dynamic performers). This set documents Bill Wyman's last tour with the band before retiring, so it's great to see his longtime chemistry with Charlie Watts and hear the classic Stone's sound. Current bassist Darryl Jones plays a little funkier in my opinion (which I love, by the way) which does change the band's sound a bit. They also perform a few songs like Undercover Of The Night and Harlem Shuffle which we don't get to hear/see these days, so that's a real treat. The guest appearances by Axl and Izzy from Guns N' Roses are okay, but those from Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker are great! Finally, although the bonus CD only has 5 songs, it has one of my favorite deeper tracks: Almost Hear You Sigh.So why the BUT?The set comes with a nice book which recollects the Stones stadium tour and all the elaborate staging and lighting that went with it, but this performance was recorded inside an arena in Atlantic City. The stage looks great but I can't help but think that some things didn't fit in the arena and are missing when I look at all the stadium pictures in the book. The product description also elaborated all about the Stone's stadium jaunt supporting the Steel Wheels album. So I feel a little misled since this isn't a stadium performance with the huge stage. I guess I should have read the fine print. The video was taken from an HBO broadcast, so it looks like you're watching TV from 1990. I totally understand the technical limitations of the time, but it brings up a final point: the set comes with both a DVD and a Blu Ray, but the Blu Ray specifically says it's SD (standard definition, not HD). So essentially the Blu Ray is the same resolution as the DVD, so why am I paying extra for a Blu Ray?So overall this is a great set for Stones fans that would normally get 5-stars, but I had to take away 1-star for the reasons above.

The Tokyo Dome DVD is different from the "From the Vault" one
As a collector of all things related to The Rolling Stones, I try not to get duplicate copies of anything that I already have. When I got this package, I inspected the track listing on the back of the box, and noticed that the Tokyo Dome DVD is similar to the one that I already have as part of the "From the Vault" series. When I got it home, I did an A/B comparison and, while the songs performed in the concert are the same titles in the same running order on the previous DVD, the performance is different. I only had to watch the intro ("Continental Drift") and the first track ("Start Me Up") to discover this. For one thing, on the "FtV" DVD, you can clearly see keyboardist Chuck Leavell playing during "SMU", whereas he's nowhere to be seen on the first number of this latest release. What a relief it was to find out that I didn't have a duplicate copy! I consider myself to be The World's Number One Rolling Stones Fan, and I don't mind watching the exact same concert over again as long as there's something different shown, even if it's the camera angle. As a collector (and an attendee of more Stones concerts than I can remember, starting with the "Steel Wheels" tour in '89), I've had to listen to roughly the same six songs done at every show. That doesn't bother me, but I'd be really annoyed to have a duplicate copy of a previously released concert passed off as new product. So, if you're on the fence about buying this for the same reasons that I just pointed out, take heart. You are not getting an exact duplicate copy of the "From the Vault" release. The band performed ten shows at the Tokyo Dome in 1990, and the one with "Steel Wheels Live" is from a different night than the other one. I haven't viewed and listened to the entire deluxe package, but some day when I do, I may post a more thorough review. I just wanted to get the info out there that this Tokyo Dome DVD is a different one, so any prospective buyers can now rest easy.

A great package for the Steel wheels tour!
Nice package for the Steel Wheels live album, and like what they've been dong of late, going into the vaults for extra recording's and that's great for the fans! As from what ive seen ,the band have some great stuff from that tour! I've been listening to the excellent blu ray in 5.1 ,and the crispness of Charlies drums and Keiths guitar come shinning through beautifully! If you can afford this package, its definetely worth the price!

Beau coffret
