At first these cameras were like the bomb and then something happen they started going out on the sides of the screen. I was so sad; it was like taking a child’s candy away after she had it for an hour. These cameras worked immaculate, they were genius, and the picture was insane. I never did hook up the small camera. I bought three in all, but this was because I needed to return them because there was a problem; one had bubbles in the screen, two went out on me at the same time like TV screens do when they get old even though I got the cameras several weeks apart. Even though these cameras were insane I wasn't willing to risk buying another one because I almost didn't get my refund. I am so sad to see such an insane product and I can't have it. I need this bloody product, but it is not ready! Thank you Amazon.

I have had this for over a month now and have held off posting the review to check operation and functionality. I love the larger screen and plan on wiring to my backup light so I can use the back-up camera feature. The larger screen is a plus and resolution and night vision is better than my previous dash cams. You can also chose on the video resolution (1080p or 720p). The location of the mini-usb plug is not well thought-out as when you attach to the mount it is a little hard to plug the cable in. My last dash cam had a button to turn the mic on and off at will during the recording. This one didn't really have instructions on how you can do this but while it is recording hitting the menu will toggle the mic on and off. Hitting the arrow next to menu will toggle camera view so you can switch to the rear camera and use as a backup camera if you haven't wired to your back-up light. You can also turn-off the PIP of the rear camera.The one failing of this camera which is one of the reasons I bought it is I can't get it to work with a memory card larger than 32GB. I have tried 64GB and 128GB, and the description says it should work with up to 256GB. I actually had a 128GB that worked but as soon I cleared it on a computer it wouldn't work in the dash cam again. And even though it appeared to work with the 128GB, only the first 30 min. of recordings were view-able. The 64GB card I ordered is the same brand as the 32GB I am using in there but when I plugged it in and turned on the dash cam it says to please insert a TF card. I let this camera sit in its box for more than a year thanks to selling the car it was destined to be installed into, but I was confident that it would work fine ... oops. Worse even was that I very carefully installed it into my Fiat Abarth, running power wires around the windshield and into an adapter in the fuse box + running the reverse camera's wire carefully in the headliner. Only then did I look at the actual quality of the videos: BLECH.VLC states that the front video is 1080p - but just because it was encoded at that resolution does NOT mean that it really is that resolution. The center is especially blurry. Look at the frame grabs from the video and note that the palm leaves at the upper right corner are far more in focus than the very important center section. The reverse camera is abysmal. That's supposed to be 720p but it's barely 320x240 and too dark on top of that. I suspect I got a counterfeit version of what others got. Am hoping the seller is willing to trade mine so that I can write a more positive review.

First off I would like to say a kudos to SplashETech! Front camera quality is excellent. Rear camera is just ok. Audio recording was impressive too. The dashcam performs well in low light conditions. This camera performs very well in day light conditions. Instructions are easy to read and understand. Menus are very easy to navigate and change. Set and forget it. I purchased a 128GB micro sd card and with this camera. Recording gives you 10 hours and 20 minutes of video on this size of card! The camera supports up to 256GB micro sd cards! Also please note when putting card in for the first time it will continue to tell you to add sd card (don't panic) simply press menu key and format it and your ready to go! This camera is backed by 5 a year warranty so I feel very secure in my purchase with the SplashETech FX50D! The rear camera cable is 14 feet long and was more than enough to fit my 2006 Nissan Quest. You get a suction mount and adhessive mount with this kit. Only one con so far is the rear camera quality is ok, color is good but details beyond 30 feet from rear lose quality a bit. I personally did not hook up the back up feature wires because I just switch camera's from front to back on the main unit instead when backing up in a parking lot. For the price and quality of this camera you won't be unhappy!Update 9/29/2016: Camera is still going just fine! 8 months of staying on 24x7! Just remember to format card once a month.
