essieGel Setter Ultimate Wear & Shine Color Kit, Ballet Slippers

I used to always buy the cheap brands of nail polish because I thought they were all the same, but Essie is better than any that I've tried, even OPI. Now I'm hooked on this brand of nail polish. I like that I can easily change my color at home without having to pay to get a high-quality manicure from a salon. It takes 2-3 coats to get a perfect finish, so be sure to allow time to complete the whole manicure. I have found that the essie brand of polishes go on smoother in thinner layers than the cheaper brands, so 2-3 coats of polish is still sleek on your nails and doesn't look or feel chunky.The gel-finish top coat is nice and leaves nails with a smooth and shiny finish. I tried wearing the gel-type top coat on its own to give my nails a shiny finish and to try to prevent breaking, but the polish started peeling after about a day, so I would not recommend trying to wear it by itself. The top coat provides a gel-like finish without having to use a lamp, so it is good for an at-home manicure.The Mint Candy polish is nice as well, and does not need to be paired with the top coat, but you can double up if you want, just be sure to allow enough time for the polish to dry before applying the top coat. I like the mint candy apple, but the color is a bit darker than what is pictured (on my screen). I would recommend looking at this product at a store in person prior to purchasing it online so that you know the exact color before it comes.

Essie is a nail color that is highly respected. I recently read that the Queen of England wears Essie's Ballet Slippers color. I had not tried that particular co.or, and I love every shade of pink.This colord came in a kit. The pink is a lovely shade, I used two layers to provide a good co,or, but one covering would be enough if that is what you prefer. The Gel Setter, top coat is very easy to app,y, and it leaves your manicure with a lovely shine. It dries very quickly, and will provide you with a perfect manicure for a week, if you allow the gel setter to completely dry. I am very impressed with his top coat, and will use it with all of my colors.This is a nicest to give as a gift, or to keep as your own.Recommended. prisrob 05-14-16

Manicures never last long with me. So when I seen this Essie "gel setter" I thought maybe I will luck out. The color is a beautiful soft pink, my nails looked professionally done. Unfortunately it only lasted 2 day then started peeling off at tips. I am not a rock climber, or a construction worker. The most agressive thing I do with my hands besides getting dressed is wash the dishes. I really wish it lasted longer. I had such high hopes but sadly the polish peeled away as easily as a banana peel.

So far so good! Product dries quickly and looks like a gel manicure. It also seems to last just as long too (note, I don't do much with my hands or hand wash dishes often). I would recommend!

I ordered this specifically because I wanted the set in one box, but I received a boxed top coat and a loose color polish. Not the end of the world, but not what I was hoping for. Only matters because it was supposed to be part of a gift.

Beautiful color, however definitely NOT gel nail quality. I'm fairly rough on my nails, but a gel manicure will usually last me about 3 weeks before chipping. I've had to redo my nails 4 times in the last 10 days due to the paint chipping off. Followed the instructions, even tried buffing and/ or roughing up my nails a bit like they do at the salon. Basically a glorified top coat of normal polish.

Great Color! The clear coat is great - I'm on day 5, no chipping, just starting to wear slightly at tips. Highly recommend, very happy!

The color is wonderful, but Gel Setter has left me disappointed. It worked pretty well at first, and extended the durability of my manicure. However, after a few uses, small bubbles sometimes appear on my nail. I think they get trapped in the much thicker solution, which just seems to thicken each time (like it dries out more and more). Again, it's okay for occasional uses, like if you know you won't have time for touch-ups over the next few days, but other than that, their normal topcoat is fine.
