Creative Cloth Doll Couture: New Approaches to Making Beautiful Clothing and Accessories Paperback – Bargain Price, May 1, 2006

I bought this book because of the word 'making'. I needed information and inspiration for making doll clothing. I underestimated the word 'couture':the book is a fashion exercise in creating dolls with all sorts of leanings - forties, hippie, way-out clothes.I expected pictures - but what pictures! Beautiful dolls with wonderful clothes, printed on quality paper. Detailed information on the 'how-to's' for some of them, and full lists of the (sometimes numerous) items needed to make the dolls.A list of suppliers in different countries is provided, patterns for the basic doll, and patterns for two outfits.If the word 'doll' means something glamorous, something you can put all your energy into, then this is the book.

I haven't started making dolls yet, but this book makes it look possible and gets the mind jumping from one great idea to another! The directions look doable and comprehensive. The dolls featured are magnificent.

I have purchased several books by this artist. She is truly a creative doll maker. Reading about her background was very interesting for she has done it all in various parts of the creative world. She is a very capable author in being able to communicate to the reader useable information to help the doll maker achieve further heights.

This book begins with directions to make the doll. This is good, because you are not forced to buy a separate book for this. Most importantly this is a book for the truly creative, for those who want something different. If you need inspiration and ideas, this book is for you, there are a few galleris of examples throughout the book. The cloths range from all the pieces of a skirt suit (including lingerie and shoes) to 60's bell bottoms to fairy-ware. They are colorful, unusual and some are high fashion evening ware. The pictures are great and the instructions seem clear (I have not made any of the clothes yet. Unfortunately there are more gallery pictures than patterns, that is my only complaint. There is engough of the basic theory to help you design some simple clothes on your own. I have all three books in this series and they are all very good!

This isn't my styleof creating my dolls, I thought !!!BUT as you truly dive into each and every page of Creative Cloth Doll Couture'sYou will learn not only knowledge but wisdom also!I am learning so much about creating a dolls clothing for ANY type of dolls, learning about"ALL THE HOW TO DO IT'S"From :body construction, making darts, how to draw a face , face sculpturing, 3 piece heads, jointed legs,straight legs and so much moreHow to create Clothing, and Accessories, Learn from creating clothes from Fairy, Whimsical, Formal,BIGGEST thing I have wanted to learn was the different types of materials, this book tells ya!!!!collage, layering,appliques' fiber and transfersI HIGHLY recommend this book..from beginners to advanced!

If you are into making cloth dolls and their clothing you will really enjoy this book and also learn new ways of doing the clothes by one of the most talented cloth doll makers. You will learn a lot of new things. Even if you are curious about making cloth dolls and their clothes the way she shows step by step on how and what to do it will be very easy to do.

Good book. I really love to see all the different dolls made by so many artists and it is nice to have ideas for clothes and embelishments to make them be truely unique. Patterns are nice to have and help to create some great dolls.

Awesome book. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. I think she is the BEST person in her area. Highly highly recommended.

There are lots of glossy photos, easy to follow instructions to make these attractive dolls. Several patterns included and general embellishment ideas, just right to inspire your own creative juices flowing.

Love this book. I had bought the online course with Patti Medaris Clea and having the book helps a lot. It has patterns and great photos.

the only question for the keen doll maker on opening the pages of this book are "where do i begin?". there are so many great ideas for designing a range of fabulous outfits it is difficult to decide what to try first. from thirties inspired ball gowns to whimsical fairy costumes - a formal retro suit complete with cami knickers underneath to a flower power hippy chick. delicious colour photos, plenty of tips and a little background from the contibuting artists. i was delighted with this book.

Nett wie alle ihre Bücher reiht sich auch dieses in meine Sammlung der gelungenen Bücher ein.Erwarten sie keine Wunder, aber wenn Sie Spaß am Nähen haben und auch mit den Puppebüchern von Ihr Freude hatten, dann ist dieses eine bereichernde Ergänzung.Wie immer schöne Fotos, eine Gallerie von Freunden und gute, bebilderte Erklärungen.Leicht zu lesendes Englisch, zur Not auch nur mit den Bildern zu verstehen. Ein Puppenschnitt und einige Kleiderschnitte wie immer sehr gut umgesetzt und beschriftet.Man sollte allerdings schon ein Fan ihres speziellen Stils sein.
